my old friend Allison Anders is in town to screen her film tonight, & the movies star Ileana Douglas will be there too. & I'll be DJing before it at 7:30 sharp. my last DJ gig was 5 or 6 years ago at the premiere of the Wrecking Crew documentary in hollywood as part of Allisons annual "don't knock the rock" film festival. hope to see you there...

IN EXILE IN DUSSELDORF, 1981

when UK officials wouldn't let me in to play a show with nick cave & death in june, mute records sent me off to spend a month (or so) with der plan at atatak HQ in dusseldorf. since I already knew a ton about german pop music (esp. girl pop), they turned me on to a few french girls from the 60s, & in turn I introduced them to the exotic sounds of martin denny. an odd fact: when TIKI BOYDS opened, a tiki bar was opened in berlin at virtually the same time by moritz r from der plan. I'm told moritzs tiki mania started with his introduction to martin denny all those many years ago...

I'm glad moritz posted this picture, it reminds me of the wonderful time I spent with him & frank & kurt.

old friend & long time partner in crime bob ferbreche offered me his childhood silver christmas tree a year ago when I posted that I'd borrowed one from eric blamey & had to get one of my own. just last week, desperate to get more silver in my white, black, & silver living room I finally drove over to his side of town & collected on that generous offer. & here it is. I've wanted one of these since 1963. again, thank you bob! as I had promised quite some time ago I'm sharing a few views of my new home here too. it's still a work in progress, but you get the picture. the house is a split level built in 1969, & I wanted it to look like a 1969 vision of the future. & it does. you'd think all that white plastic & fiberglass & chrome would look sterile, but it's really quite homey. it's the perfect place for a recluse to live. a man moving in a couch for us commented that it looked like a set from CLOCKWORK ORANGE...

PLAGARISM IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY

as many of you know, I have publicly employed the inequality symbol for well over 25 years, because I feel an understanding of the absolutely pivotal role inequality plays in every aspect of existence cannot be overstated. the image reproduced herein was from my early 90s publication WAKE, but was designed & circulated many years prior.

so imagine my surprise when I was sent a link to the church of satan website in which they proudly announced a new CoS T-shirt... a polo shirt bearing the inequality symbol. in actual fact, the same company had sold this very shirt for years as part of their boyd rice/NON line of clothing, along with shirts, neck ties & ritual robes bearing the wolfsangle & cross of lorraine. & in the past I have plugged this company on this page.

when I posted a commentary about this on the CoS page (my first & last post ever there), I told peter gilmore that I knew he didn't have the balls to let the post stand... I was right, of course. he deleted it. if he hadn't I doubt I'd have bothered to mention it here, as I've never felt it worth my while to pass comment on the CoS one way or another here, despite my love for LaVey. I suppose it it amuses me more than anything else that people who talk such shit about me can borrow so liberally from me (although in their hands the result is less than interesting--- or credible).

when he was alive LaVey called gilmore a "useful idiot". I can heartily concur with at least 50% of that assessment.

SEEN IN SAN DIEGO

while renting kayaks to explore la jollas sea caves, I happened across this. the rental shop had turned its mens room into a shrine to the rolling stones. while the rest of the shop had contemporary rock playing in the background, the toilet had a non-stop stones soundtrack. does this make anyone else think of other water-sports besides scuba, surfing, & kayaking?
