En el 2017, fue seleccionado por el Hay Festival como parte de Bogotá39, un listado de 39 escritores prometedores del continente menores de 39. Dos años antes, en el 2015, fue reconocido por el Festival de la Palabra con el Premio Nuevas Voces, un premio otorgado a autores puertorriqueños jóvenes. Ese mismo año fue parte de Latinoamérica Viva, una selección de autores latinoamericanos noveles curada por la Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara. Es profesor de literatura y estudios culturales en Oberlin College.

Sergio Gutiérrez Negrón (Caguas, 1986) has published the novels Los días hábiles, Palacio, and Dicen que los dormidos and the collection of stories Preciosos perdedores. In 2017, he was selected by the Hay Festival as part of Bogotá39, a list of 39 promising writers from the continent under 39. Two years earlier, in 2015, he was recognized by the Festival de la Palabra with the Nuevas Voces Award, an award given to young Puerto Rican authors. That same year he was part of Latinoamérica Viva, a selection of new Latin American authors curated by the Guadalajara International Book Fair. He wrote op-eds for El Nuevo Día between 2010 and 2019. His stories, essays and crónicas have appeared in various magazines and newspapers, including World Literature Today, Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, Casa de las Américas (Cuba), Centro (Colombia) and Clarín (Argentina). He is a professor of Latin American literature and cultural studies at Oberlin College.
