This review is from: Deadman's Lament (Kindle Edition)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am in the process of reading it again. I laughed, I cried, and I got angry as Matthew's (Mattie'sDeadman's Lament) story unfolded. I could not put this book down....there were no lags or boring pages. I commend the Editor as I was not sidetracked with misspellings and I take my hat off to the author. I have enjoyed other books by Linell Jeppsen and believe this to be her best book yet.

Many months and many books later...

Hi guys! I've got to tell you that when it comes to goodreads I am a total dunce! I really want to keep in contact with you and get to know you better, but until I can figure out what I am doing here- hey! does anyone care to be my goodreads tutor? LOL!
Anyway, since I first started this writing gig I have just finished my 6th full-length novel! Whew! I mainly write science fiction and fantasy but some strange gremlin took over and I just finished my first-ever-western! I honestly think it's my best work yet and I really hope some of you decide to check it out! It is called, Dead Man's Lament. Here is the blurb...

The year is 1872. Twelve-year-old Matthew Wilcox leads a charmed life on his family's sprawling ranch in Washington Territory until a series of tragic events leave him orphaned and in the clutches of a vicious band of outlaws. Threatened by the gang leader's perverted cousin, Top Hat, Matthew also faces Indian attacks, dangerous wildlife, and a deadly snowstorm. He survives but burns with an overwhelming hunger for revenge.

Thirteen years later, Matthew - now a Spokane County sheriff - realizes that Top Hat is riding again with a new gang called the Mad Hatters. It means risking his friends, his family and the love of a good woman, but Matthew must find the man who destroyed what he once loved most in the world. To that end, he and his posse venture into Idaho gold country to capture the Mad Hatters.

Top Hat, however, has a different idea. He turns the tables, heading to the sheriff's hometown of Granville and going after everyone Matthew holds dear.

What follows will haunt Sheriff Wilcox for the rest of his life as he confronts the hatred, vengeance and retribution buried deep in his own soul. Matthew will do anything, though, to put an end to A DEADMAN'S LAMENT.

This novel already has 8-5 star reviews! When was the last time you sat down an enjoyed an old-fashioned western?Deadman's Lament

Detour To Dusk

I wanted to invite everyone to view my first novel, Detour To Dusk...formerly known as The Hunt. It was recently picked up by a new publisher, given a spit and polish, and new art. In short- it's gorgeous and I'm really proud. Here is the blurb...

A ragged band of vampires are cutting a bloody path of destruction from Alaska to Washington State! As frost turns the leaves gold and paints the high mountain treetops silver, hundreds of hunters arrive in Swan Valley for their annual deer hunt. What they don’t know is an outcast band of vampires have arrived, as well. Raphael Goldhawk, king of the high vampire council, has decreed the taking of human life unlawful. Raul Stannard, an ancient enemy of the half-human king, is determined to overthrow the council, even if it means the exposure and eventual annihilation of the vampire race. Four people, a Ferry County forest ranger (Roger Atley), an Indian spirit-walker (Harley Truefeather), and a young married couple (Brian and Holly Jensen), are about to be caught up in an ancient power struggle, and in a love affair as old as time itself. This novel combines ancient history with modern times, in an epic show-down between good and evil, love and hate. Grab your camping gear and hold on tight! It’s time for DETOUR TO DUSK!

Here is the ASIN... ASIN: B008LFIDQE

There are over 26- 4 and 5 star reviews on this old-fashioned vampire thriller!

Oh! Don't forget! Detour To Dusk is FREE, FREE, FREE Friday and Saturday!

Thanks to everyone!

I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who has picked up, read and reviewed my novels, The Hunt, and Story Time!
Without people who are willing to take the chance on a new author, we would be a sorry bunch.
For the most part, both books have been well- received. I am hearing the same complaint, over and over again with Story Time, however, and I plan to rectify the situation.
The complaint? Many readers feel that the ending was too abrupt and left too many unanswered questions. I myself struggled with the ending. I felt that the readers might enjoy cutting and pasting their own ending... I also thought that the answers were already there (if one looked carefully) Now I think I was wrong and I should provide more clues to what was going on around the world during the apocalypse, and after, on the new planet.
So, here's what I'm going to do. Soon, within the next month, or so, I'm going to offer a 10,000 word (approx) FORWARD, absolutely FREE.
I hope that this science fiction prequel will answer many questions that linger at stories end, and, of course, peak interest in the full-length novel, for those who have not read Story Time yet.

Meanwhile, please watch for my latest novel, ONIO! This is a story about a half-human Sasquatch who falls in love with a human girl named, Melody Carver. Here is the blurb for Onio, coming soon from World Castle Publishing~

In this modern world of science and high technology, in secret places deep under the ground and in the forest primeval, legends still walk the earth and what we think of as myth and fairy tale are all too real.

Driving home late one night, Melody Carver, bereft and grieving after the death of her mother, sees a strange creature standing on the lonely road. This being will change her world-view forever, and open her eyes to a reality beyond her imagination.

Melody’s chance encounter on that dark and snowy road will mark the beginning of a journey of discovery and wonder that will bring two worlds together in hope and despair.

Can one person bridge the gap between the ancient and the modern, the mundane and the magical?

An urban fantasy filled with adventure, romance, war, heartbreak and triumph!

ONIO! Unlike anything, you have ever read before!

Thanks! Talk to you later, Nel

How I did with my free download through the KLL Library

Hi! For anyone who is wondering about whether to do the KLL, or not...here is what I've experienced since assigning my novel, THE HUNT.
A week ago, I put my book up for FREE for two days. I had 1498 downloads of The Hunt during that time.
Granted the books are free, which means no royalties during that time. However, I have been thrilled to see an uptick in sales, not only for The Hunt but for Story Time as well.
Things are starting to slow down now, but the Kll was true to its word. They did feature The Hunt, loudly and often during that two day period.
I am also starting to receive some additional reviews, which always jump starts the search engines.
So- I say go for it. If your sales are languishing like mine were, I say what's there to lose?
That's your two cents from the peanut gallery! Nel

Updates on the wild and perilous ride!

Hi Folks...well it's an interesting ride, isn't it? As many of you know, I was originally published by the PSP (I won't say the words...if you're interested you can look it up for yourselves!) The royalties were quite low, but I was so grateful to be published I thought what the heck, especially since I held the exclusive rights to both books. Well, I found out that that publisher owned the "non"-exclusive rights to the same pieces of work!
So, having no other choice, I took both novels Indy. I am having a blast- promoting my butt off and watching the books climb the charts. I am enjoying the ability to go to my own dashboard, set the price lines, take it free, buy my own art- it's fun.
My advice to you... Before you sign on to any publisher, big or small, read the fine print! Don't be the starry-eyed noob that signs the better part of your royalties away forever.
The good news? The Hunt, and Story Time have been selling in the 20 to 50 thousand range since I went INDY as opposed to the 300,000 list range-that translates into about 4 books a day sold.
I hope that some of this show and tell has been interesting and of use to those of you who are new to the game and are wondering where to go now that your baby (book) is ready to hit the presses. I welcome any comments, or questions. Nel (the NOOB) Jeppsen

Story Time by Linell Jeppsen

First, I want to apologize for my recent absence...I've been very busy finishing my latest novel, and opening a new brick and mortar book store. I've had no time to cruise around my favorite sites. I'm back now though, and wanted to tell you about the release of my new novel, Story Time...a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi book, app. 79,000 words, available on Kindle now. Of course, I welcome reviews, and hope you enjoy my new book. Oh! Before I forget-Thanks to all of you fine folks for the lovely reviews of my vampire novel, The Hunt. Honestly, I didn't even know they were up. I am humbly grateful to all of you for your time and consideration.

In the not too distant future a young woman bears witness to the end of her world.
Earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions rock the planet, reducing cities to smoking rubble, burying entire islands and coastlines beneath cataclysmic waves.
Religious fervor and human evil erupt and entwine, becoming a maelstrom of madness in the days after, bringing with it the horror of apocalyptic war.
As a population in the depths of despair struggles to overcome insurmountable odds, can a single glimmer of hope flare into a beacon for the survivors?
This is her tale…the world is ours…and now, it’s STORY TIME.
