I Am Officially Bad At Blogging

But I am good at taking on creative projects that only I care about. With that in mind, here is the 15k word guide to the Dishonored Tarot Deck which no one asked for.

Waywood – The Witches have landed…

…or at least they will shortly.

I posted the blurb for my upcoming novel about witches, sacrifices and things that go ‘AHHHH’ in the night, but thought I’d share the cover art with you and tell you a little bit more about the book itself.

Waywood was conceived as a teenage (YA) novel for my module in teen novels at University waaaaaaay back in 2012. Unlike my chick-lit novel, this one I didn’t finish. I was quite eager to give the story the middle and end that it deserved, and finally had some inspiration strike me this year.

This is my take on witches: homeless british teens with nowhere to go except into the land of fantasy, where magic is real and they have power over their lives again. Only, as with most of the things I write, there’s a dark side to it all, and the darkness is growing.

I’m glad that I’ve had a chance to harken back to the darker supernatural novels of my youth, and while yes, there is romance in these here pages, there’s a lot more murder, fear and power – percentage wise. :)

The novel comes out on the 17th May 2015 – which is my birthday :) (not why I chose it but it just fits in quite nicely). It will be available across Amazon.

An Excerpt From My Western

http://www.beginningsanthology.com/thewriters#/sarah-goodwin/

Hey, so the website for the Bath Spa MA anthology is up and on it you can view a bit from my lesbian western novel ‘Night Fires in the Distance’ you can also read the blurb and get a look at my cool black and white artsy photo (taken on a friend’s camera phone in my bathroom :P) Ah the glamour.

Night Fires is currently entered into the Historical Novel Society novel competition, so fingers crossed that it gets on well there. There are plans for a second novel in the series, but I have about six ideas that I need to sort into a timeline of which novel to write next. Stupid day jobs taking all my time.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the sneak peek! It might not appear on Amazon, depends on how the competition goes, but you’ll get to read it one way or the other.

Potterings About the Place

It’s been a while since I posted on here but now I have news. More than one bit of news, plural newses.

Big news number 1 is that I have another novel coming to Amazon shortly. It’s a YA urban magic thing set in gorgeous Georgian Bath – with all the gore and betrayal of my last venture into the supernatural ‘Heartless’. Unlike my vampire novel however, this one has a female protagonist, and while my vamps were decidedly modern, I’ve gone a bit Salem with my witches, a bit old world.

Here’s the first blurb:

Kind of Stephen King though. . . I look up at the crumbling walls and ancient trees that are spilling their crisp, yellow leaves onto the cobbled street. Fear stirs my guts again, this is getting weirder by the minute.

Fairy story, Cray corrects, the kind where children lose fingers to goblins and the princess eyes get pecked out by crows.

Michaela has nowhere to go the night her parents find her stash and kick her out. Not even her friends will take her in (its kind of hard to get help when you’ve stolen from everyone you know). When she meets another runaway, Cray, at the bus station she thinks all her problems are solved.

Thats when Cray first says the word coven.

Michaela doesn’t believe him, what sane person would? But soon she sees for herself what magic can do, especially when its in the hands of homeless teens living a stones throw from a busy University campus.

But thing at Waywood house aren’t as friendly as they look, and soon Michaela realizes shes fallen into something far more dangerous than a coven of amateur witches. Something far older.

I’m excited, because there’s a large part of me that still wishes my day job was dicing frogs and filling cow hearts with iron nails (sadly this is not a branch of the NHS).

That novel ‘Waywood’ will be out in the next month, so watch this space (or rather, that space – watch Amazon).

Big news 2 – There is currently a sequel in the works to my chicklit novel ‘Prior Engagements’. ‘P2′ as it is currently titled on my laptop is looking good so far. It comes mostly from the last few months of reinventing my life from the ground up, which left me wondering what Annie would be getting up to a few years on from the blissful end to Prior Engagements.

Lastly, I’m sure you remember me blathering about my MA on various media platforms (Tumblr got the brunt of that one) but in less than a month it’s all over for good. Our anthology is currently going out and in a few short weeks I’ll be heading off to London to see everyone again, and to take a stab and talking up my Lesbian Western.

More news on P2:Buns of Fury as it develops.

Prism Book Alliance Reviews ‘Heartless’

tumblr_m3f6gswpui1qhitjgo1_500Hi Guys!

It seems like a long time ago now that I sat down to write a vampire novel that was less Meyer and more Orwell. Having had enough of sexy vampires I approached the creatures with an eye for the parasitic, the privilaged and the langidly callous. Heartless hasn’t been my most successful book, possibly because of the absense of sexy vampires – I think some readers weren’t bargaining on the gore, violence and cruelty of the plot. But this review from PBA has me considering another look into the supernatural.

Ink Has Been Removed From Amazon

Ink

So, you guys might have notices that my second novel ‘Ink’ is no longer available on Amazon.co.uk, this is because Amazon kept telling me it had been taken down and needed to be ‘fixed’ but only told me that it was my blurb/product description that was a problem. They didn’t tell me what the problem was, despite me emailing them multiple times. So each time I looked through the short list of rules for the blurb and amended it for any percieved issues. Each time it was taken down again, until at last Amazon prevented me from putting ‘Ink’ back on the market.

Obviously this is very upsetting to me. I don’t know why this particular book has been deemed unsuitable – it does deal with some themes that aren’t suitable for younger readers, and which might disturb people, but all my sexually active characters are over he age of consent. Amazon sells far more objectionable novels.

Anyway, I’ve decided to make it available for free on here, so that people can still enjoy it, even if I don’t get any money from it. It was written to be read after all.

Hope this works.

A Short Story I Wrote – A Three Way Divide

A Short Story I Wrote – A Three Way Divide

This is a short story I wrote in my third year on the undergraduate creative writing course at Bath Spa university. It was published on Everyday Fiction a while back and I just remembered about it.

Interview About ‘Me and Mine’ and how it came to be

Interview About ‘Me and Mine’ and how it came to be

Hey guys!

About a month ago some lovely person nominated me for a 2014 LGBT Book Gem on Brandon Shire’s website. I am chuffed to the extreme, many thanks to whoever put me forward :)

The link is to the little interview I did for it, and it’s mostly about how I came to write ‘Me and Mine’, my first ebook novel, back in 2010. Almost FIVE YEARS AGO NOW. Time flies, and I’m getting on – book 7, the pioneer story, is almost finished!

One Fish, Two Fish

My latest novel, One Fish, Two fish, is out on the Amazon kindle store and as a paperback from Lulu.com.

As always I’m very interested in your thoughts and feedback, and the best way to let me know what you thought of the book, is via goodreads, where you can see the winning entry for the book cover competition.

The Blurb:

Scott is in a lot of trouble.

His vet is holding his frozen dog to ransom, and if he can’t come up with £500 quickly, he’s lost him forever. His job at Chapterhouse Insurance is on shaky ground, and Scott needs a promotion if he’s going to outlive his failing department.

Only, everyone who gets promoted at Chapterhouse seems to get married first.

Against the advice of his friends, Scott decides he needs a wife to secure a promotion, and the money to finally get his dog back. But, being a fish obsessed semi-recluse, he quickly realises that he’s not going to find a woman the old fashioned way. Turning to the internet, Scott eventually finds a Russian woman looking to move to the UK.

When Maliki turns up at the airport, half Scott’s age, and definitely male, Scott begins to realise just how much trouble he’s in.
