Writing and Learning

When you write your first book, there is a lot to learn. What no one tells you is how much of that learning comes after writing it.

It's been a busy month discussing 4000s by 40, working through what book project to dive into next, and building a more formal daily writing process so I continue to move the needle forward. Like writing, every bit of what comes after takes practice. Speaking engagements, vendor tables, finding out where to submit next works to... there's so much to learn—and it's great! Tiring at times, but great.

Only in learning have I ever felt completely satisfied. If I'm not learning, I get bored. Without a challenge to face, life gets stagnant. So, instead of all of the extra work feeling like a burden, it's been a great opportunity to learn more aspects of the writing world.

I am ready to get back into writing mode, though, now. After a book signing next Saturday at The Country Bookseller in Wolfeboro, NH, I'll be buckling down on Book #2 for the summer. I'm excited!

If you're curious about the writing process or like to read more stories from the trail, head over to https://wanderingmattlarson.com and subscribe to the monthly newsletter at the sidebar. I'd love to hear your stories and connect.

Happy Reading,
Matt

P.S. To hear about why 4000s by 40 was important for me to write, you can check out my recent podcast interview with the crew at Sounds Like a Search and Rescue Podcast—Episode 194, starting around minute 43:30. It was a fun talk with Stomp and Mike!
