Lucky 7

I've been tagged to do this "Lucky 7" thing. you go to page seven of your current writing project, scroll to the seventh paragraph, and post seven lines. Here you go, from my contemporary romance, which is currently called ZOMBIE CAT:

“I’m really sorry Danny.” I felt stupid standing there talking to the shiny lacquered coffin when I should have already returned to the air conditioned comfort of my Honda. But it’s not like anyone was waiting for me. All the mourners had gone, and there were probably some things I should say now that I had this chance alone with him.

But that really wasn’t me. I didn’t do melodramatic, and I didn’t talk to dead people. Having heard the tight, strained sound of my own voice, I didn’t want to hear it again. I swallowed. The rest would just have to remain unsaid.

And hey, since my alter ego, J.K. Coi has also been tagged, you can go here to check out her Lucky 7! http://www.jkcoi.blogspot.com/

A Moment Out ofTime

From my new work in progress...

"There’s a moment in every situation when time slows. Even the air stops moving. It’s the moment just before the moment of no return. You could still turn around and go back. Return to the life you had before, and pretend this moment never existed. But the trouble is, if you speak just one more word, take one step forward, if you let go of that moment for even a fraction of a second…that’s it. It’s gone. You fall headlong into the future.

Whether you want to or not."

Who has experienced that moment of no return? Did you know at the time there'd be no going back? Did you rush toward the future, or hesitate?
