I live in Warm Springs, Georgia with my wife Angela, daughter Meg, and son Parker. I am a proud graduate of the University of Georgia, where I obtained a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting. Having obtained a degree in painting, I took the next logical step in life -- I went to Law school (more specifically, Mercer Law School, which I loved). After years in private practice, I had an idea for a mystery novel that I thought my children would enjoy (and that might teach them a little bit about Shakespeare). That idea turned into THE SECRETS OF SHAKESPEARE"S GRAVE. A second book followed shortly thereafter - TOWER OF THE FIVE ORDERS. And coming in 2017, a new mystery - THE VAN GOGH DECEPTION, published by HMH Books for Children.

I can't wait either! I have finished the third book in the series -- it is called The Man with the Silver Nose. It introduces new adventures for Colophon and her brother at The Tower of London, Windsor Castle and Westminster Cathedral.

The decision, however, to publish another volume in the Shakespeare Mysteries series is ultimately up to the publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. If you are inclined to do so, please email the publisher at tradecustomerservice@hmhpub.com and let them know that you would like to see the series to continue. Books are published for readers, and publishers want and need to hear what readers think.

I do have another book coming out in 2017 — it is a mystery based on the artist Vincent Van Gogh. Keep an eye out for it — I’m sure you’ll like it.

Thanks so much for the email — and I apologize for the delayed response.

I really appreciate your kind words about my books. I have another book coming out in 2017 (that seems so far away). It is a mystery based on the artist Vincent Van Gogh. It takes place in and around the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

The third book in the series is The Shakespeare Mystery series is also complete. It is called The Man with the Silver Nose. I really like this book. It introduces new adventures for Colophon and her brother at The Tower of London, Windsor Castle and Westminster Cathedral (lot's of good, exciting history). The decision, however, to publish another volume in the Shakespeare Mysteries series is ultimately up to the publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. If you have the time and are inclined to do so, please email the publisher at tradecustomerservice@hmhpub.com and let them know that you would like to see the series to continue. I want my books to entertain and educate -- and I think the series on Shakespeare does both. By the way, the third book introduces another real-life character from Shakespeare's time, the astronomer Tyco Brahe.

“So much in this world does not seem real. We think we are so connected nowadays -- cell phones, Internet, and constant access to everything and everybody. But we're not really connected. We've forgotten what's real. We've forgotten how to interact with the world around us. Not just to see something on a screen but to feel it, to smell it, to taste it. That's reality.”
Deron R. Hicks, Secrets of Shakespeare’s Grave

“Even though one seeks with the expectation of finding, finding is a complete surprise nonetheless.” —letter from Vincent van Gogh to his brother Theo, 7 November 1881”

“Palmer knew that there was no room for mistakes—the boy could not escape again. But Palmer had complete confidence in his team.”
