Sometimes I look at books I wrote and have no idea how I wrote them. I'm sitting here with copies of my new book of stories and forgetting all the years of work and frustration and joy that went those pages. Just happy to have these words out in the world, floating free of me now.

I picked up a copy of the galleys for my forthcoming book of stories, The Palace of Illusions, the other day in Berkeley. Straight to Spenger's for a glass of prosecco. It's a rare, happy day when you get galleys AND get carded.
