Keep it sleazy, y'all!
River House Blues

A carousel of surreal characters flowing along a river of souls. Lovers, hunters, gamblers, and even lady death herself all make an appearance in this powerful new book of poems from Mendes Biondo.
Mendes is the Mount Vesuvius of poetry, the lava burning every page, smouldering with honesty and sex and dreams and characters from the Wild West. The smoke of humour and insight permeate throughout this chapbook. Mendes Biondo is a poet of flames and every stroke of his pen scorches, delights and sometimes shocks the imagination but always snares the reader’s attention. A poet whose reputation continues to grow.

2019
2019 is nearly over, and what a wild-ass year it's been! I suppose it's only fitting that we close this wild decade in like manner.
Back in 2009, I'd barely just arrived in Salt Lake City, and since then my life has seen about all the twists and turns, ups and downs you'd probably care to imagine. The time has taken its toll, there can be no doubt about it, but it's fair to say that for anything lost, there are other things I've gained. As I continue this long, befuddling trudge into middle age, I'm astounded by how much I'm still learning about myself, other people, and the larger world around us. Here's hoping that the years to come aren't total fuck-ups either!
Now, a brief recap of publishing in 2019:
As usual, I edited the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter editions of HST Quarterly, the last of which actually including new work by yours truly! In addition to these regular publications, I published two anthologies: The first volume of Horror Sleaze Trash: Poems and the second volume of Horror Sleaze Trash: Prose in Poor Taste. Beyond all that, I managed to place a poem in EZPZ Yearly Review, Issue One, from Pyre Publishing. Also, I edited Blowfly by Thumper Devotchka and River House Blues by Mendes Biondo to boot. Heading into 2020, I've got books by Bogdan Dragos, John D Robinson, Judge Santiago Burdon, and likely a few others lined up as well. It's gonna be a busy year!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this. Thanks for all your love and support, hell, even your hatred and opposition these past 365! Now c'mon – let's make the next round count as well.

Stray Dogs and Deuces Wild

"When I first read Burdon's work I instinctively realised that here was a man who knew the score. That he was not a fake or dilettante. I could feel a bitter, hard-won experience that lay behind every line. These stories are both beautifully written and capture conclusively the humour, excitement, sadness and disappointment of a life lived on the edge. I cannot recommend this book highly enough."
—Ian Copestick
"Burdon presents a highly amusing collection of bohemian stories from the fringe. He finds literary pearls at the bottom of a dark ocean of smut and sin, propelling us into wild and unhinged terrain in a fashion similar to such luminaries as Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs, and Denis Johnson. Buy this book today!"
