I wrote The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic after a couple of characters, Nora and Aruendiel, wandered into my imagination and wouldn’t leave. In fact, they're still there. Their story continues in How to Talk to a Goddess and Other Lessons in Real Magic.

“I’m not sure what I love more about How to Talk to a Goddess and Other Lessons in Real Magic—its immersive world of enchantments, so lavishly imagined, or its characters, who are wise and funny and flawed, who win me over with their compelling voices, their wit and heart. A splendid follow-up to The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic—a sparkling, smart, irresistible read.”—Sally Rosen Kindred, author of Where the Wolf and Says the Forest to the Girl

“Out of habit, she stopped by the bookshelf in the living room to see if there was a paperback that she could stuff into her pocket for emergencies — you never knew when you might need a book to entertain and comfort and distract you in the day's empty places”
Emily Croy Barker, The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic

“It was one thing to read about a society obsessed with female purity—quite another to find yourself living in one.”
Emily Croy Barker, The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic

“You know, sometimes, very innocently, you can develop a sort of fascination with a man, and then you see all these little signs that actually don't mean anything, but it's too late because you're reading in them exactly what you want to read. Be careful, is all I'm saying. It's easy to get fooled.”
Emily Croy Barker, The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic

It's been a year since reading your the book. I just wanted to let you know I still have yet to find one since that tops my most recommended to friends and I hope the sequel is going well because I like many others can barely contain ourselves.

Lexi Just wanted to say that of all the books I've read so far in 2014 (okay I know it's only April) The Thinking Woman's Guide has been my favorite. In fact while I've enjoyed the others I've read I still keep thinking back to your characters wanting to know more about them, their lives, and the mouse.

Thank you for such an intriguing book!

Ariana Fennimore I am currently reading your book THE THINKING WOMAN'S GUIDE TO REAL MAGIC. Can I just say I am really loving it and was so pleased to find out there would be a sequel! The book was a rare find for me and incorporated a lot of the things that I love in a book (fantasy, magic, little bit of love, and a strong female). I cannot wait to see where the rest of the book goes as well as where the sequel will take me!
