Prayers & beautiful artwork

Dear Readers,

I hope you are well and warm. I am praying for those with extreme weather circumstances right now, and who are struggling with the results of it. Even without those kinds of challenges, this isn’t an easy time for many. Drop me a note if I can be praying for you.

These beautiful works of art came from two sisters all the way over in North Carolina! What a joy. Thank you, girls! 😊

Book Plates & “Hunting” Kindle Sale

Dear Readers,

Since my last post, I’ve opened an Etsy store to stock signed book plates! These are in the place of autographed books, which can sometimes be a little tricky to arrange getting from me to you.

Here’s the link to where they are available: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BakerFamilySeries

Hunting in the Highlands is on sale on Kindle for $2.99 if you’d like to catch up on the Bakers’ (and Freylads’ [yay!]) adventures before Rescue in the Rockies! (HERE for Amazon US) and (HERE for Amazon UK).

The Kindle version of Rescue will be available on Kindle soon, too.

These are some Scripture references that were inspirational to the story and quotes from the story itself. You can find more on my social media accounts (or let me know if I should rather post them here for you!)

Summer of Suspense Read-Aloud

Dear Readers,

Last week, I grabbed a tripod and a book, and went outside to do a bit of read-aloud! The birds were singing at the top of their lungs, and though you can’t see it, dappled sunlight was being tossed by the breeze through the trees.

I hope today finds you healthy, hopeful,  and well!

May the Lord bless you,

~ C.R. Hedgcock

Some Verses of Encouragement for Today

Dear Readers,

It’s a fine spring morning over here, reminding me of this amazing verse from Isaiah 61.

“For as the earth brings forth its bud,

As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,

So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.” ~ Isaiah 61:11

In the northern hemisphere, this is SPRING! It’s the time of life bursting forth, casting off dormancy, plunging the outdoors in colour and hope. As I watch little seeds sprout and grow, I am aware of the amazing fact that the seasons have not stopped. Spring is upon us with vibrancy … so let our righteousness and praise spring forth before all the nations!

With it being Good Friday today, and with Resurrection Sunday coming just around the corner, these verses from the start of the chapter are beautifully encouraging.

I like to read the lines slowly, and let their impact sink in. What a marvellous Saviour Christ is!

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the LORD has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,

And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

To console those who mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness:

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 61:1-2

Praying that you may you be blessed and en-courage-d in Him this weekend!

Please feel free to share your favorite verses in the comments! Let’s fill our minds with the Word of truth and build one another up.

A Few Ideas

Dear Readers,

If you, like many of us, have felt a little overwhelmed by the changes that have affected life across the world this week, here are a few things you can do.

Firstly, pray! This one goes without saying … but how often are we tempted to let our eyes drift from the Lord and to neglect fellowship with Christ in favour of other things? Let’s read the Word, pray, be still and know that He is God (Ps. 46:10), and have confidence that no matter what changes, He never does. No matter the disappointment or the fear, He knows, He cares, and He is still in charge. Our faith is in Him!

You may be at home with time on your hands because of cancelled events, and you may not be sure what to do with that time. If so, it can be really helpful to find ways to take dominion over your space, and bring order to chaos.

That may look like cleaning your room.

Weeding the garden.

Training the dog.

Digging a hole to plant something or making a raised vegetable bed.

Germinating seeds.

Organizing your bookshelf.

Fixing the fence.

Stitching that hole in your socks.
