His Dragon Heart Excerpt
At long last, His Dragon Heart is in edits! Here’s a short excerpt to whet your appetite:
Just then, Keira kicked her opponent and sent him flying across the hall and into the door the other guard had left cracked. It slammed open, the guard sliding across the entryway and into the room.
Gill grinned. What a way to make an entrance.
Keira stalked into the room and Gill hurried to join her. She spotted their prey as he rose from his seat at the very long table at the far end of the room. “Damon Knightley,” Gill said.
Knightley swore and started to strip his clothes off. Damnit–she knew what that meant. He was going to shift.
“What the hell?” the other man said. He had to be a wolf. And probably a high-ranking one–the man was big as a house.
Keira and Gill continued toward the men. “We just want to talk,” Keira said.
“The hell you do.” Knightley dropped his pants to the ground. Gill got a split second to look at his surprisingly hot naked body before he shifted into dragon form and lifted into the air, his black-as-sin wings brushing the ceiling as they flapped.
Gill yanked her handgun out of its holster with one hand and her dagger with the other. Beside her, Keira did the same as they both watched Damon hovering above them, waiting to see if he would attack.
They really hadn’t meant to hurt him but if he went after them, they’d have no choice. “Get down here!” Gill said.
He ignored her, flying toward the door and arrowing through it. Gill immediately chased after him.
She almost caught him in the corridor, where he had to waddle because he couldn’t spread his wings. As she raced behind him, she said, “Stop! We just want to talk!”
He reached the outside door and as soon as his body was through the opening he launched into the air.
Gill raced after him, dodging bare-chested, kilt-wearing men who appeared out of nowhere, trying to stop her. She had to kick one or two of them out of the way and it cost her time. Dragons were damned fast in the air.
And yet he paused outside the gate, hovering in mid-air, almost as if waiting for her, before flying off again. What the hell?
It wasn’t until she was running across the heather-covered hills chasing him that she realized Keira wasn’t beside her. She knew it would cost her a second, but as she topped the next rise, she took a look back anyway.
Keira was nowhere in sight.
Gill slowed, almost stopping. Her sister would never let her run after a dragon by herself, which meant something must have delayed her. And if Keira was in trouble, Gill needed to help her. Besides, the dragon was far ahead of her. Gill would never catch up.
She pivoted, about to race back down the hill toward the Stronghold when a black mass dropped from the sky in front of her. Knightley flapped his wings lightly, hovering in the air just out of range. He stared at her.
What the hell was she supposed to do now?
She paused, watching him for the slightest sign of aggression, but he just gazed at her. “We don’t mean you any harm,” she said again. Maybe she was finally getting through to him.
All of a sudden he swooped at her. She ducked and rolled out of the way, and his talons scored the ground where she’d stood.
The hell with this. She needed to get to Keira. Gill raced down the hill.
All of a sudden, she felt a jerk and saw the ground pulling away from her. Had he picked her up? She couldn’t believe it, but they continued to rise, and he was holding her tightly enough that she couldn’t leap for the ground before it was too far to jump.
Gill froze. What was she supposed to do now? They’d never trained for this. Dragons never took prisoners. A quick glanced to the side showed the hills and valleys of the Highlands far below them.
Fighting was out. Sure, she could shoot his claw right in the center and he’d probably open it–and drop her all the way to the ground. No thanks.
She had no choice but to wait and be ready. As soon as they hit the ground again, she would attack.

Jennalynn turned the door handle and pushed the door open, producing a lot less noise than she’d expected. When she stepped into the room, Mr. Tight Buns turned toward her. A lock of his dark brown hair had fallen out of the small queue at the back of his neck and down onto his forehead. His chocolatey eyes met hers as he straightened.
She kept her eyes on him but couldn’t miss that the room was empty. Completely empty—no furniture, no nothing. “What are you doing in Phillip’s apartment?” Might as well pretend to be an indignant friend of the missing Phillip Kent. Maybe he could explain why Kent’s stuff was gone.
“I could ask you the same thing, angel.”
His voice caressed her at the same time his scent reached her. It told her several things about him but most became buried by the rush of emotion and sensation that swept over her. She could never have imagined being turned to molten lava by a smell and a handful of words. This could only mean one thing. She’d found her mate.
Worse, her mate was a fucking vampire.

When the woman moved, Antonio knew instantly she was a werewolf. There was something about their lithe bodies, the way their muscles moved. He’d never been able to put his finger on it, but he’d never been wrong, either.
As a rule, he didn’t like werewolves. At the same time, there was something extremely sexy about her. There shouldn’t have been. He liked long hair and while her chestnut hair was long, it was pulled back from her face and fell in a braid down her back, masking its beauty. And while he preferred curves, she looked more muscled than lush. He preferred sweet, demur women like the blonde in the restaurant. This woman looked like she’d have a good shot at taking him in a fight.
Not that it mattered. When it came down to it, he loved women. Surely he could find something to love about this one.
After he finished perusing her body, he took another look at her face. Her bright blue eyes were wide, her full lips slightly open.
“Surprised to see me?” he said.
She cleared her throat. “What are you doing in Phillip’s home?”
“Sticking with that tune? I can tell you’re a werewolf. What is it you’re doing in Phillip’s home?” His tone twisted on the man’s name.
After licking her lips, she said, “Who are you?”
What was up with her? She looked positively shell-shocked. “You can hardly expect me to answer.”
“Fine. Vamp. Don’t answer.” She spun on her heel and left the apartment.

Aurelia #Free in the PNR Advent Calendar Event

Today, my second free book in the PNR Advent calendar-inspired holiday event went live. You can pick up Aurelia and the Three Bodyguards now through the end of the event on December 31.
As I said in my last post, the event works like this: each day, a new free PNR short story gets added to the Advent calendar page. We wanted these stories to be truly free, so we are not asking for newsletter sign-ups or social media follows. You can just stop by the page each day and download a new story. (Short stories from previous days will also stay available until the end of the event, in case you miss a day.) Some of the stories are holiday stories, but a lot of them are not.

I’m contributing two books to the calendar. Hunger Moon went live a couple of weeks ago, and today Aurelia and the Three Bodyguards joins the calendar. You’ll also find books from previous days by Anna Lowe, Julia Mills, Kate Rudolph, Skye Jones, Misha Carver, Lia Davis, and Bethany Shaw, among others.
You can find the Advent Calendar page here: https://books.bookfunnel.com/pnradventscalendar and there’s an excerpt from Aurelia and the Three Bodyguards here: http://www.tabithaconall.com/aurelia-and-the-three-bodyguards/.
Enjoy!

A PNR Holiday Gift for You

Hello everyone! I completed the rough draft of His Dragon Heart (woohoo!) and plan for it to come out in 2019. In the meantime, I wanted to give you a “thank you” for sticking with me, so I joined a group of great PNR authors in an Advent calendar-inspired holiday event.
It works like this: each day, a new free PNR short story gets added to the Advent calendar page.
We wanted these stories to be truly free, so we are not asking for
newsletter sign-ups or social media follows. You can just stop by the
page each day and download a new story. (Short stories from previous
days will also stay available until the end of the event,
in case you miss a day.) Some of the stories are holiday stories, but a
lot of them are not.

I’m contributing two books to the calendar. Up first is Hunger Moon,
newly available today, along with books from previous days by Anna Lowe,
Julia Mills, Kate Rudolph, Skye Jones, Misha Carver, Lia Davis, and
Bethany Shaw. Later this month, my book Aurelia and the Three
Bodyguards will feature as well (don’t worry – I’ll send another quick
email on the day Aurelia becomes available).
You can find the Advent Calendar page here: https://books.bookfunnel.com/pnradventscalendar and there’s an excerpt from Hunger Moon on my website here: http://www.tabithaconall.com/hunger-moon/.

Excerpt:
The new librarian was perfect. Soft and sweet and shy. Since he’d come into town, the man had looked for women good enough to be his new wives. So far, he’d found only one. But the new librarian would make a beautiful second wife.
Now all he had to do was watch and wait for the right time to take her.
***
Maddy had been working at the library for a couple of weeks the first time the head librarian, Denise, asked her to man the place by herself. It was only the two of them, so Maddy had known from the start that there’d be times when she was alone. Truth be told, she preferred it that way.
She sat at the desk checking out books and answering questions while townspeople filtered through. Most of them had already welcomed her back to Lunaville, so she was having to have fewer and fewer awkward conversations about that, at least. Living in New York, she’d forgotten how “small town” Lunaville could be.
One of her friends from junior high, Lisa, stopped by the desk when she finally had a lull. “How’re you holding up? Ready to run for the hills yet?”
“Not quite yet, but check back in an hour,” Maddy said. Lisa was one of the few people she could talk to.
“Some of us are going to the bar tonight. Want to come?”
Going to the bar meant loud music, screaming just to be heard, drunk men hitting on her and fighting through a crowd to get to the bathroom. The bar was the last place she wanted to go. But she couldn’t stay cooped up in her apartment all the time, either. “Sure, okay. Maybe for an hour or so.”
A smell hit Maddy, the scent of freshly printed books and soda pop fizz and home.
Lisa said something else, but Maddy didn’t hear it. A need washed over her, moving her almost against her will. Maddy grabbed Lisa’s hand. “My mates.”
Lisa squealed as Maddy walked away, around the desk to the open area in front of it. She headed toward the hallway leading to the front doors. Where were they?
Out of the corner of her eye, Maddy saw a man catapult around the corner, coming from the fiction section. He stopped a few feet away from her.
Donovan Geary.
She smiled. She’d always found him attractive with his dark hair and eyes. Sort of mysterious and movie-star like. Donovan Geary. Her mate.
He moved toward her, a little more slowly now, and pulled her into his arms. “Hey,” he whispered in her ear.
“Hey.” She squeezed him tight. He felt as solid as a concrete block.
Donovan moved his head a little, then a little more, til his lips were millimeters from hers. Then he kissed her, more than a peck but less than a five-alarm-fire. When he pulled back, he didn’t pull back far. “Where’s our third?”
They both turned their heads to one side then the other. Maddy spotted him first. Before the knowledge even hit her brain, her knees gave out.
Eli.
Blurb:
In a world where werewolves mate in threes…
A mad werewolf chose Lunaville as the perfect hunting ground. He needs new wives to rebuild his harem, and what better place than a town full of wolves? But when he sets his sights on Madison Blake, he runs into trouble–she finds her fated mates before he can grab her.
Maddy, Eli and Donovan face trouble of their own just making their mating work. Maddy and Eli have bad blood between them, history strong enough to keep them apart in spite of the overwhelming mating lust. To find true love, they must not only conquer their own problems but also keep Maddy safe from the mad wolf stalking her.
This 20,000+ word novella is the first in the Mad Wolf’s Harem series, which is set in the same world as Protecting the Pack and the Stonewall Pack Alpha series. HEA included.
Freebies and Cheapies. Be there or be a pumpkin.

Her Vampire Mate

A vampire and a werewolf. Enemies. Mates.
While searching for a world-walker, werewolf Jennalynn Bishop finds her mate. But instead of feeling excited, she’s horrified. He’s a vampire, an enemy.
Searching for the same world-walker, vampire and professional poisoner Antonio de Marco feels drawn to his werewolf foe. He loves women, always has, so he rolls with it. Maybe seducing her will throw her off her game.
Thrown together repeatedly, they finally team up to track down the world-walker, never realizing the danger waiting for them if they succeed in finding her.
This 30,000+ word long book is the fourth in the Colliding Worlds series. HEA included.
This title was also published in the Crave anthology.
