September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness month, so first off--check your neck! At your next doctor's appointment, ask your doc to check your neck for anything abnormal. You'll be glad you did.

How does this relate to Faithful to Laura? In 2011 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. During my treatment a reader and dear friend, Karla Hanns, made a prayer quilt for me. That quilt is on the cover of Faithful to Laura.

When I saw the cover mock up I asked my publisher if it was possible to put the quilt over the rocking chair. They agreed (because they're awesome!) and I sent the quilt to Thomas Nelson. After a little photography magic, the quilt appeared.

Every time I see this cover, I'm reminded of the prayers and support of my family and friends during that difficult time. Thyroid cancer is considered the "easy" cancer, but there's nothing easy about it. Make sure you get your neck checked on a regular basis. Thyroid cancer is curable, but early detection is key.

Christmas is just around the corner and I'm excited about a new Amish novella collection I'm a part of, An Amish Second Christmas. Other authors in the collection include Beth Wiseman, Tricia Goyer, and Ruth Reid. An Amish Second Christmas is available for pre-order.
