$100 Gift Certificate Giveaway

I've decided to run a MONTHLY CONTEST for all my readers out there!

MONTHLY GRAND PRIZE: $100 gift certificate from Amazon, BN or iTunes (winner's choice).

TO ENTER: all you need to do is review one (or all) of my books. The review can be GOOD or BAD, it doesn't matter to me. Just leave a review giving your opinion of the book.

Post your review anywhere online (i.e., Amazon.com, BN.com, Goodreads, your blog, or any other place you can think of), then send me a message (via Facebook or email) and let me know where you posted the review.

For each review, you'll get one entry per site where you've posted the review. So, the more places you post, and the more books you review, the more chances you have to win! Posting your review to online bookstores like Amazon, Barnes & Noble and the iBookstore get two entries per review.

If you've already posted a review for any of my books at Amazon, BN, etc., just message me and let me know where the reviews are posted and you'll be entered into the contest.

First round of the contest ends April 30th. Winner will be chosen via Random.org. Winner will be notified via email, and will be announced on my Facebook fan page and at my website by May 10th.

For subsequent months, the contest will end on the last day of the month and the winner will be announced by the 5th of the following month. You only need to enter each review once. Your information will remain in the "pot" until you win!

Get up-to-date contest info at my page on Facebook!

Disclaimer: A positive review is not necessary to win. Contest may end at any time. In the event the contest is cancelled, a prize will be issued for the month in which cancellation takes place, and will officially end the following month.

Staked

My latest release is Staked (Time Brokers: Book One). It's currently available in ebook format. Here's a little about the book:

Ava Valentine is a time-traveling bounty hunter from the distant future. She's chased her fugitive back to present-day New York City, where she hopes her new contact will lead her to an uneventful capture. What she's not expecting is to get mixed up with a man she suspects is a vampire.

Dexter Stone is a mysterious soldier of fortune. He holds an allegiance to few, and has a reputation for selling out anyone if the price is right. His word is good though, and once he chooses a side, it'll take more than monetary gain to sway him to the other.

A run-in with an unsavory person from Ava's past forces the pair into an uneasy alliance. And soon, Ava will discover that she could be Stone's saving grace-or his downfall.

Please Note: Staked is a 25,000-word novella.

Visit my website to download a pdf of approximately 25% of the book.

New Release ~ Vegas, Baby

VEGAS, BABY is my latest release!

Book two of the Soul Searchers series picks up where Broken Wings left off. Rio Laraquette's back in Vegas and settling into her normal routine—except that Eddie LaCall has invaded her space. The two share a mutual attraction and an undeniable connection.

When Eddie's scarred past comes back to haunt him his attachment to Rio strengthens even though neither completely trusts the other. Just when it looks like a poker tournament is bringing them together, their budding relationship gets backburnered when a stalker goes from creepy to dangerous, making several attempts on the reluctant lovers' lives.

Will these two souls—who've been searching for each other across eternity—finally get to share a lifetime together, or will they once again end up as star-crossed lovers?

To review or not to review....

As an author, I've a confession to make...I don't read the reviews of my books at Goodreads, Library Thing or Amazon (or other outlets where they're sold). The only ones I see are the ones reviewers send to me directly.

I don't refrain because I don't care what other people think. I do it for my own sanity. Not everyone's going to like a book--and that's each individual's privilege--but seeing the proof that someone thinks your baby is ugly can sting. I'm not totally oblivious. I know the bad reviews are there. I just don't read them.

I see (and hear of) time and again authors who are hurt by a less than favorable review. Whether or not unfavorable reviews hurt sales is not the point of my post (I will say this though...it doesn't seem to have hurt my sales).

I personally don't read reviews when making a decision about whether or not to buy a book. Since I'm a Kindle owner, it's simple for me to download a sample and make my own decision about whether or not I'm going to enjoy the story, the writer's voice and the characters.

That said, I know there are people who read the reviews before deciding to buy. After scanning the reviews of a few "author friends" books, I've noticed a pattern...people who are dissatisfied are far more likely to speak out than those who found the read enjoyable.

Which brings me to the reason for this post...if you've read a book (any book) and enjoyed it, please think about leaving a positive review at whatever outlet you made the purchase. I'm not asking so much for the author as for the potential readers who weigh their decision to buy or not based on other reviews. If you enjoyed the read, maybe they will, too.

I'm wishing everyone a prosperous year in 2011 ~

Happy New Year!

Sandy
