In the latest Gabe Bergeron mystery, Ezmeralda Gutierrez, who has been Aunt Flo's friend and comrade and co-conspirator for decades, has decided to wed, Danilo Ochoa, once a major in the Dirección de Inteligencia, the Cuban KBG. But the preparations for the wedding don't go quite as planned as Danilo keeps getting almost murdered.

Danilo doesn't lack for enemies: Ezmeralda's brother, his own relatives, and Rey Ángel Zamora, Aunt Flo's stepson, are just the obvious ones. Which might even include Aunt Flo herself? She says she's fine with the wedding; as fine as frog's hair.

So Gabe has to find out who wants Danilo dead, while dealing with a new client at Garst, Bauer, Nemec & Garst, who is strange even by Gabe's standards.

I've just finished a new mystery featuring Gabe Bergeron, mediocre bookkeeper and mystery solver.

Part of the action of "Deep is the Chesapeake" is set on a small island in the Chesapeake Bay. Aunt Flo and Ezmeralda and Cory return plus some new characters who will (probably) figure in the fifth and sixth Bergeron books, which are in the planning stage now.
