It’s mine to give, and so I give it. I do not wait for it to be reciprocated, I love, first, hard, often.

has never really stopped me
from giving my love.

Gently, I ask you to reflect today. Reflect on the life you’re...

Gently, I ask you to reflect today. Reflect on the life you’re living, the person you’re becoming, and ask yourself if you’re on the path YOU wish to be on, if you’re the person YOU wish to be. If there is hesitation, if there is an ounce of trepidation, stop, and ask yourself who is writing your story, and why it is not you. You can choose something better, you can tell a new tale, fresh and honest, and you can begin again. There is nothing but strength in this, in refusing to acquiesce a moment longer with the way things are. You’ve got it in you, and even if you don’t see it, I do.

Look for new stories, tell them to us now.

Today is one of my most favorite days of the entire year, today,...

Today is one of my most favorite days of the entire year, today, is International Women’s Day. Today is the day we get to pause, reflect, and truly celebrate the women in our lives, in our world, that have redefined strength in the face of adversity indescribable. Today is a chance to say Thank You, to apologize, to once again re-pledge ourselves to doing whatever is necessary to help use whatever privilege we may have into demanding absolute equality.
*
I had a childhood surrounded by women, strong, fierce, independent women that planted a seed in me that has never stopped growing. I have watched that seed turn into an entire garden of absolute awe for women, for the struggles faced with grace and grit, for the way that they can announce their strength without needing to shout or scream, they can exude it silently sometimes.
*
This poem is in my upcoming book, Illumination, and it’s a lesson I’ve learned from the women I’ve been so lucky to know, to love, to learn from. It’s exhausting being strong, and I will stay here, always, ready to support women in any way I am told will be helpful. I will never pretend to understand, I will never pretend to have the answers on how to help, I will shut my mouth, listen, and take the direction when it is given.
*
Thank you, and Happy International Women’s Day. I am here, at your disposal ladies, use me as you will. (at Link in Bio)

I do believe we are close. Close to something that might just...

I do believe we are close. Close to something that might just slightly resemble normal, or whatever we once called normal. I know we are ready, but we gotta hold on. We gotta show up at that shining point with as many of us healthy as we possibly can. Hold on. Nearly there.

Enough! I called out,
I have waited long enough.
Let me live again!

Topsy turvy times, these, spin us about like carousel, like rollercoaster off the rails but somehow still furiously speeding along. I don’t know if you’re on the same page as I am, hell even the same book, but as of late I’ve felt upside down, I’ve felt pulled in strange directions, I’ve felt myself dangling from the end of my rope in many ways. We’ve talked of COVID fatigue on here many-a-time, but I think for many of us, this is something else, something deeper.
*
I think we’re soul sick, the lot of us, and if you’re not and you happen to be reading this thinking I am crazy and you’ve no idea what I am speaking of, I am so thrilled for you. Share with us what your secrets are, share with us what you’re feeling that gets you through those bog days. For the rest of us, know you are seen, heard, know that how you’re feeling is ok and that somewhere, someone is feeling the same way. Soul sick and tired, upside down and ready for the blood to rush back to our heads from all this time dangling.
*
It’s ok to feel this, it’s acceptable to be forlorn from time to time, to feel hopeless and exhausted. Something I say a lot here in this space, is that I’ve no room for toxic positivity. Forcing ourselves to only see the positive is just as unhealthy as constantly dwelling on the negative, we need balance, and more than that, we need to admit when the balance is off.
*
Anyone else out there feeling the same way? Share, we can help one another. I promise.
