Cover reveal for my new book, and the Nielsen Book Awards

From left to right: Me, Adele Parks, Richard Osman, Liz Pichon, David Nicholls, Bonnie Garmus and two Masters Degree students (whose names I have forgotten, sorry) who won awards for their dissertations

I had the most wonderful time at the Nielsen Book awards in London on Monday. I was awarded two silver awards, for sales of over 250,000 copies, for The Missing and The Guilty Couple.

It was the most magical evening. It was so wonderful to meet Julia Donaldson (The Gruffalo etc), L...

My writing highlights of 2024 (and some other bits and bobs)

It’s the close of 2024 so why not do a round up of my highlights? I used to do this every year then got out of the habit, and who knows what I did or achieved in the years I’ve missed? Not me, that’s for sure!

So here’s a round up, more to aid my terrible memory in the future than anything else!

It’s the third time one of my books have been chosen (the others were Sleep and The Guilty Couple) and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Copies with a special interview in back will be available from WH Smiths high street and WH Smiths Travel. You can also snap up a £4.99 c...

Events: Stirling, Dublin, Chiltern, Whitley Bay, Bristol, Cricieth

The summer holidays are over, my son is due back at school in a few days, the deadline for me to complete my structural edits for my 2025 book is fast approaching, and the paperback of Every Move You Make is published on 12th September!

Not so much sliding into autumn but slamming straight into it!

Once the structural edits have been delivered I won’t have more than a week or two before the line edits arrive, then it’s copy edits, then page proofs and, at some point, a discussion will ...

The greatest honour of my career

Wednesday 16th July 2024 was the most wonderful, exciting nerve-wracking day. I was awarded an honorary doctorate – Doctor of Letters – from the university where I spend three wonderful years from 1992-1995, Northumbria University.

My degree was awarded to me by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson who is the current Chancellor of the university. I was so pleased to be able to share this special moment with my parents and I only stumbled once during my speech to the undergraduates.

I...
