“Enséñame cómo vivir, oh Señor. Guíame por el camino correcto”. Salmo 27:11 (NTV)

Puede parecer obvio, pero muchas veces no conocemos la voluntad de Dios porque no se la preguntamos. Santiago 4:2 dice: “no tienen lo que desean porque no se lo piden a Dios”. Dios conoce los detalles de tu vida mejor que tú. Por eso, contrata a tu “consejero” y hazle preguntas específicas. Él te guiará a través de tus circunstancias y sentimientos.

Piénsalo: no sólo tienes el libro guía, la Biblia. También tienes al autor hablándote al oído. Cuando te convertiste en creyente, Dios puso el Espíritu Santo dentro de ti, y desde entonces Él te ha estado enseñando a escuchar y responder al consejo del Espíritu Santo. Dios conoce cada paso de tu camino, tanto las bendiciones como los peligros que vienen. Sabe dónde has estado y a dónde vas, y conoce el mejor camino que debes tomar.

La principal forma en que el Espíritu Santo te guía es recordándote lo que has leído en la Biblia. Por eso memorizamos las Escrituras. Si guardamos su Palabra en nuestra mente, el Espíritu Santo nos la recordará.

La otra forma en que Dios te guía es mediante impresiones. Dios te dio un cerebro, y quiere que lo uses. Dios no te controlará; te ha dado libre albedrío. Pero te dará una idea, y cuando respondas a ella, Él comenzará a completar los detalles.

Cuando Dios te da una idea, eso se llama inspiración. Cuando el Diablo te da una idea, eso se llama tentación. Cuando necesites saber la diferencia, pregunta: “Enséñame cómo vivir, oh Señor. Guíame por el camino correcto” Salmo 27:11 (NTV).

“Now God says he will accept and acquit us . . . if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we can all be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like.”

Romans 3:22 (TLB)

Grace is when God does something for you simply out of his love. It’s when he gives you what you need, not what you deserve.

Grace is a free gift—but to be a true follower of Jesus, you have to accept it.

The Bible says, “Those people who accept God’s full grace and the great gift of being made right with him will surely have true life and rule through the one man, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17 NCV). 

One of the greatest ways God shows us grace is through forgiveness. It’s the one thing we need the most because we mess up all the time! God forgives us before we even know we need it—and before we even ask for it. Forgiveness is a gift of God’s grace when we trust in him.

The Living Bible paraphrase says, “Now God says he will accept and acquit us . . . if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we can all be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like” (Romans 3:22). 

No matter who you are or what you’ve done, you can be saved by God’s grace. Regardless of your mistakes—or your ethnic, economic, or religious background—you can come to Christ.

How do you get God’s grace in your life? You can’t earn it or work for it. There’s only one way you can accept God’s grace: Admit you need it.

You admit that there’s no way you can make it into heaven on your own, because heaven is perfect and you are not. You swallow your pride, and you realize how much you need God’s grace—not just to get into heaven but to live with purpose here on earth.

Mark 10:15 says, “I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it” (GNT).

A young child doesn’t come boastfully and pridefully to their dad to ask for help. They say, “Daddy, I can’t do it. I need your help.”

To follow Jesus, all you need to do is come to him in humility and say, “God, I can’t do what you made me to do without you in my life. I need your help!”

No matter who you are or what you’ve done, you can reach your arms out to your heavenly Father today and accept his grace.

Talk It Over

Why do you think God wants us to take the step of accepting his grace if it is a free gift?
What sin in your life have you believed is too big or too bad for God’s forgiveness? What will you choose to believe about it today?
Do you ever ask God to make you humble? Why or why not?

If you haven’t trusted in Jesus and committed to following him, why wait any longer?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that can get you back into a right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to accept God’s grace, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. I trust you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

“Te abriste camino a través del mar y tu sendero atravesó las poderosas aguas, ¡una senda que nadie sabía que estaba allí!” Salmo 77:19 (NTV)  

Dios puede hablarte a través de impresiones. Puede usar las circunstancias. Incluso puede usar el dolor. Puede usar lo que quiera usar. Oswald Chambers dijo: ‘Dios, el Gran Ingeniero, crea circunstancias que nos llevan a momentos y citas divinas’.

La Biblia dice que Dios trabaja activamente a través de nuestras circunstancias. Por eso no podemos juzgar nuestra situación al margen de la sabiduría de Dios. En otras palabras, debemos dejar que Dios interprete nuestras circunstancias. Sólo Él es capaz de comprender todos los hechos, y sólo Él ve el significado de cada detalle. Por eso es tan importante que lo comprobemos todo con su Palabra.

Si te sientes abrumado o confundido con respecto a una decisión, es posible que estés atrapado en ti mismo y no en la voz de Dios. La Biblia dice: “Dios no es un Dios de desorden, sino de paz” 1 Corintios 14:33 (NTV). Él no es el autor de la confusión. Así que si te sientes confundido, ¿adivina qué? No es la voz de Dios la que habla en tu vida.

Muchas veces nos encontramos con enormes barreras financieras, espirituales o físicas. Es entonces cuando necesitamos confesar: “Dios, hay montañas a ambos lados y una barrera infranqueable frente a mí”. Y entonces esperamos que Dios responda: “Te tengo exactamente donde quiero que estés. Mira esto”. Dios abrirá un camino donde parece no haberlo.

El Salmo 77:19 dice: “Te abriste camino a través del mar y tu sendero atravesó las poderosas aguas, ¡una senda que nadie sabía que estaba allí!” (NTV).

Cuando no sepas qué hacer, Dios te guiará. Él no te diseñó para ir por la vida con tu propia ingenuidad y poder. No tienes que esperar que puedas resolver todas las cosas. Dios quiere guiarte por el camino correcto, y lo hará cuando te rindas a Él y busques su guía.

John 8:12 (NLT)

When you begin a relationship with Jesus, you get all kinds of benefits, including clarity and stability.

Clarity means things get clearer in your life. You see your relationships more clearly. You see your problems more clearly. You see your future more clearly. Everything gets clearer! Suddenly, you’re not so confused or distracted anymore. You have more direction and focus.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12 NLT).

Do you ever feel like you’re stumbling around in life? Ever feel like you’re lacking direction or going nowhere? Have you ever thought, “I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing with my life”?

Then make following Jesus your number one priority. Because when you follow his plan and purpose, he gives you clarity on what you’re supposed to be doing with your life. When you follow Jesus, things become clearer.

Another benefit to following Jesus is that you get stability. You get a solid foundation to build your life on.

Jesus told a story about two guys who built houses, one on a foundation of sand and the other on a foundation of solid rock. When the winds and rains and floods came, the house that was built on sand collapsed. It fell apart! But the house that was built on the rock withstood the storms. It held strong. It had a center.

You’ve got to have a center for your life because you’re going to encounter storms along the way. You’ve probably already had storms in your finances, your relationships, your career, and your health—and you’re going to have even more.

What will be your source of stability when storms come? If you don’t have a solid foundation, then you’re going to crumble. If you’re not following Jesus, you won’t have the stability you need to keep from falling apart.

Jesus said, “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24 NIV).

If you need more clarity and stability in your life, then you need to commit to faithfulness in following Jesus. His solid foundation and his light will help you walk in confidence toward your purpose.

“El amor nunca se da por vencido, jamás pierde la fe, siempre tiene esperanzas y se mantiene firme en toda circunstancia”. 1 Corintios 13:7 (NTV)

 El amor puede ser agotador, no te engañes. El tipo de amor que realmente marca la diferencia en este mundo te dejará sin nada.

A veces sientes que no tienes más amor para dar. Tal vez tienes un trabajo que requiere interactuar con mucha gente, como la enseñanza, las ventas o el servicio al cliente, y llegas a casa y piensas: “No puedo hacer frente a otra necesidad, otro problema o adversidad”. Así que te cierras.

A veces, debes amar a alguien exigente, egoísta y que no te devuelve el amor. Y te dices a ti mismo: “Se acabó. No más”.

Aunque esa es una respuesta perfectamente natural y totalmente humana, no es precisamente el modelo de amor al que Dios nos llama en la Biblia. La Biblia dice: “El amor nunca se da por vencido, jamás pierde la fe, siempre tiene esperanzas y se mantiene firme en toda circunstancia” 1 Corintios 13:7 (NTV). El amor nunca se rinde.

¿Cómo puedes tener esa clase de amor persistente por otra persona? Tienes que abastecerte de combustible.

Cuando mis hijos eran pequeños, recuerdo haber llevado a la familia a un espectáculo aéreo cercano. Era tan impresionante ver cómo conectaban un avión cisterna a un avión en vuelo para abastecerlo de combustible. Nunca lo olvidaré.

Pero, ¿se imaginan que alguien que vuele un avión diga: “No necesito reabastecimiento de combustible”? El avión se estrellaría y ardería. En un vuelo de larga distancia, un avión tiene que reabastecerse de combustible.

Para dar el tipo de amor persistente que Dios quiere que des, tienes que reabastecer tu tanque de amor. Nuestra sociedad está llena de relaciones rotas porque la gente no reabasteció su amor.

¿Cómo reabastecer tu tanque de amor? Empieza por dejar que Dios te ame. “Nosotros amamos porque él nos amó primero” 1 Juan 4: 19 (NVI). Cuando estés agotado, cansado e incapaz de imaginarte mostrando amor a alguien más, recuerda que Dios te amó tanto que envió a su Hijo a morir por ti.

Eso sí que es combustible. Eso es lo que te hace seguir adelante cuando quieres darte por vencido.

“He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”

Psalm 23:3 (NIV)

When you’re afraid of making the wrong decision, it creates stress in your life.

But God has an antidote to indecision. Psalm 23:3 says, “He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake” (NIV). The way to handle the stress of decision-making is to let God guide you.

You may be thinking, “But I’ve tried this!” You asked God to guide you, but then you became more confused than ever before. You still couldn’t figure it out, and you wondered why knowing God’s will is so difficult.

Is God playing games with you? Of course not! God wants to guide you. He wants you to know his will more than you want to know it. But sometimes you look for the wrong thing when you’re trying to find God’s will. We all do this. 

Some of us look for a feeling. Some want a formula or recipe to follow. Others take a magical approach and look for God to show them a fantastic sign.

But these ways only lead to frustration and can cause you to miss God’s will.

God doesn’t want you confused, and he doesn’t want you stressed over making a decision. He wants you to ask him for guidance before you make a decision and then trust him and his goodness once the decision is made.

When you do, he sets you free from second-guessing yourself.

James 1:6-8 says, “When you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do” (NLT).

And so here’s the good news: Even if the future looks uncertain, you don’t have to feel unsettled or stressed or afraid. God is stable, and you can trust his guidance. 

When you unequivocally trust God in uncertain times—in all times—he will give you everything you need to make wise decisions.

God will be there guiding you every step of the way. This is his promise, and you can believe it to be true: “He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”

What “wrong thing” do you tend to look for when you’re trying to find God’s will—a feeling, a formula, a fantastic sign, or something else?

“Todo lo que hagan, háganlo con amor” . 1 Corintios 16:14 (TLA)

El apóstol Pablo dijo, “todo lo que hagan, háganlo con amor” 1 Corintios 16:14 (TLA).

No dice ‘algunas cosas’, sino ‘todo lo que hagan’. También dice, “Puedo entregar todo lo que tengo para ayudar a los demás… Pero si no tengo amor, eso no me sirve de nada” 1 Corintios 13:3 (PDT).

El punto es que cualquier actividad puede convertirse en adoración cuando está fundamentada en el amor de Cristo. Cuando eso sucede, el amor de Dios es expresado a través tuyo hacia tus compañeros de trabajo, clientes y socios. La Madre Teresa dijo: ‘Lo que importa no es lo que haces, sino el amor que pones en ello’.

El filántropo inglés John Ruskin una vez dijo, “Cuando el amor y la habilidad trabajan juntos, el resultado es una obra maestra”.

Te animo a orar cada día de esta semana —ya sea en tu hogar o en la escuela, en tu jardín o tu vecindario, o donde trabajes. Quiero que ores, “Padre, hoy quiero adorarte a través de mi trabajo. Quiero expresar mis dones. Quiero hacerlo como si lo estuviera haciendo para ti, y quiero hacerlo en amor”.

“Por eso, hermanos míos, ya que Dios es tan bueno con ustedes, les ruego que dediquen toda su vida a servirle y a hacer todo lo que a él le agrada. Así es como se le debe adorar” Romanos 12:1 (TLA).

When “I” am at the center of everything in my life, that’s sin. 

We all have an “I” problem: I want it my way; I will do my thing; I have to take care of myself first; I don’t have time for others; I am the most important thing.

Growing up, my dad taught me the danger of I-focused living by pointing out that the middle letter of “sin” is “I.” At the root of sin is self-centeredness, and the middle letter of “pride” just also happens to be “I.” Where else does this apply? All “crime” is self-centered. A lot of social problems in the world today are caused by putting “I” at the center and saying, “I am better than you.”

What other I-centered sins happen when you start living a self-focused life? You start to “whine” and “criticize.” You turn “envious,” “deceitful,” “defiant,” and “merciless”—because you want grace for yourself but not for others.

What are the results of living a self-focused life? Guilt, fatigue, pessimism, hostility, and emptiness—all with “I” at the center.

What is the only antidote to an I-focused life? You have to change your focus.

You were made by God and for God. And you will only find peace and purpose when you focus your life on him.  The Bible promises, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you” (Isaiah 26:3 NLT).

“Dios es testigo de cuánto los quiero a todos con el entrañable amor de Cristo Jesús”.  Filipenses 1:8 (NVI)

Si no llevas a las personas en tu corazón, es fácil que te irriten. Si no tienes a tus hijos en tu corazón, te irritan. Si no tienes a tu cónyuge en tu corazón, ¿adivina quién te irrita?

La razón por la que tantos matrimonios fracasan es porque los cónyuges están reaccionando el uno al otro desde su mente y no desde su corazón. Cuando tu esposa dice: “Me siento deprimida”, escúchala; es una situación real. Cuando tu marido diga: “No creo que esto sea lo correcto; deberíamos hacerlo de esta otra manera”, escúchalo.

El amor de corazón empieza por entender por qué alguien siente lo que siente. Haz preguntas y escucha atentamente. Presta atención al dolor, identifica los problemas y comprende qué afecta a tu pareja. Tienes que entender los estados de ánimo de las personas más cercanas a ti, la razón por la que actúan como lo hacen. Si te importa, estarás consciente.

¿Cómo puedes amar a personas que te resultan antipáticas, aunque las entiendas y entiendas sus estados de ánimo? “Dios es testigo de cuánto los quiero a todos con el entrañable amor de Cristo Jesús” (Filipenses 1: 8 NVI). En griego, la palabra afecto es la palabra para las entrañas. En la sociedad griega, los griegos pensaban que la sede de las emociones estaba en el estómago, el hígado, los órganos internos.

Pablo estaba diciendo: “Tengo un entrañable sentimiento de amor por ti”. Eso no es un tipo de amor natural. Es un tipo de amor sobrenatural. Por eso Pablo dijo que no es de él mismo, sino que es el afecto de Cristo Jesús. El amor humano se desgasta, se seca y muere en la vid. El único tipo de amor que perdura a pesar del dolor y las dificultades en circunstancias difíciles es el amor de Dios: el afecto de Jesucristo.

Entonces, ¿cómo se consigue este tipo de amor entrañable? “Dios ha derramado su amor en nuestro corazón por el Espíritu Santo que nos ha dado” Romanos 5:5 (NVI). El amor de Dios no es algo que puedas crear. Es algo que el Espíritu Santo derrama en ti al dejarlo vivir en ti día a día.

¿Cómo puedes describir amar a las personas desagradables? ¿Cuándo has visto demostrado ese tipo de amor?¿Cuáles son algunas formas en las que puedes escuchar mejor el dolor, identificar los problemas o saber lo que provoca a tu esposo (o a un familiar cercano)?¿Cuáles son algunas formas que puedes escuchar el dolor y entender los problemas que otras personas en tu vida pueden estar experimentando?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Have you ever imagined something like this? It’s the day of judgment. You’re standing outside the gates of heaven in a really long line. You slowly move forward, one step at a time.

As you get closer, you start to sweat and wonder, “Am I going to get in? Am I going to make it? Is God going to use a giant TV screen to show every stupid or evil thing I’ve ever done? Will my every sin be exposed?”

I have good news for you. The Bible says that those who believe in Jesus—his death and resurrection—will not be judged (John 3:18). Jesus has promised you that.

In other words, when you get to heaven, Jesus will greet you with open arms. He’ll welcome you home because, as a believer, you belong to the family of God.

Jesus’ death and resurrection release you from judgment. Is that good news? Oh, yeah!

When my friend Buddy was a child, his Sunday school teacher taught him God was sitting in heaven, writing down every bad thing that he ever did.

She made the class sing a song every week that went, “My Lord is writing all the time. Writing, writing, writing all the time.”

Buddy said, “It scared me. I just thought, ‘I’m never going to make it to heaven. My list is getting longer and longer.’”

Is that the way God treats you when put your faith in Christ? No! In fact, God is erasing, erasing, erasing all the time. Forgiving, forgiving, forgiving all the time. He’s sitting in heaven, hitting the “delete” button. 

How do I know this? The Bible says: “God is love” (1 John 4:8 GNT), and love “keeps no record of wrongs” (1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV).

If you put your trust in Jesus Christ and his love, your sins are wiped away. God’s judgment is no longer something you need to fear. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, you’re free from judgment.

Talk It Over

When you think of God, do you think of judgment or forgiveness? Why?
How do Christ’s death and resurrection change how you view God’s judgment?
If God doesn’t keep a record of wrongs, why is it important to try to do the right thing?

There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.>

The Bible says in John 3:18 that those who believe in Jesus—his death and resurrection—will not be judged. Romans 8:1 says it in a different way: “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” (NLT).

If you’re ready to accept that promise, to stop fearing God’s judgment, and to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, and I will learn the purpose of my life. Instead of judging me, you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Thank you that I don’t have to earn it, deserve it, or work for it. It is your gift of grace.

“Today I’m turning over every part of my life to you. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
