Are blue witches more appealing than green?

I invited Kyra Jacobs back to my blog to talk more about her book BLUE MANHATTAN. You see, she writes fantasy in between sweet romances to have a …

Navigating the Ruts

My brain is foggy, my word count lower this month than I’d intended. Not gonna lie, I’m in a bit of a writing rut. Though I have a million ideas swimming around inside my head, I’m struggling to get much down on screen/paper. So I’m doing what usually helps me clear the cobwebs from my noggin:

I’m writing a blog post.

Early on, I started this site to get my feet wet in the whole “blogging environment”. Over time I kept it going to help promote my books and author platform. I had guest post...

On Purpose

We’ve had a crazy past few weeks in our house, but as the dust is settling, germs are gone, and life is (knock on wood) getting back to normal, I found myself thinking again. It happens when I’m scrubbing the house from top to bottom–my body is doing one thing while my brain is bouncing from one topic to another.

This weekend I kept coming back to my writing and where I want it to go. Well, yes, duh, of course I’d love to hit the New York Times Best Sellers list. But that’s not exactly what ...

Accept or Shift?

Happy New Year, everyone. Well, “happy” in that it’s no longer 2020. It’s older sister 2021 has yet to prove whether or not she’s going to steer us in the right direction. LOL

I’ll admit, I’d intended to post more regularly after dusting off the blog last year. And then we had a pandemic. And civil unrest. And an ugly election season. Annnnnnd…well, you know, you were there.

So rather than stress about what to blog or if my blog would be right/wrong/left/right/up/down, I chose instead to g...

Grill Therapy

This week I thought I’d take an opportunity to set the record straight. See, while the general vibe of this blog is upbeat/uplifting, it needs to be said that I am not some perpetually perky, eternally optimistic, ever-smiling chica. I have bad days too. Tough days. Shitty days. Probably more than I care to admit.

I’m human. It happens.

While trying to come up with today’s topic, I briefly considered using IndiW as a venting channel. But really, who wants to sit there and read about m...

Derailing the Excuse Assembly Line

As I was wrestling with to-do lists over the weekend, I realized that in this crazy world of quarantining, I’ve been letting a few things slide. Apparently, my normal routines (formed out of a necessity to survive crazy working/soccer momming/writing/socializing) had been obliterated by this stupid COVID-19 set aside to make room for a slower, simpler pace. In doing so, it seems a few items got lost between the couch cushions.

Case in point: exercising.

I used to love going to the gym. Loved doi...

Beware Boredom Mindsets

I was venting to my oldest last week about some annoying lawn equipment noises going on outside when he grinned, shook his head, and said,

Dont be a Karen, Mom.

Aside from that being humorous on many levels, it got me thinking:

Why was I so annoyed by whether or not the neighbors were doing X,Y, Z? And was this really about them, or the handful of other people/groups that were annoying me lately?

People griping on FB about having to wearing masks.
People griping on Twitter about people not...

Renewal Amid the Chaos

2020 has been called many things. A year that started out in countless memes as a much-needed fresh start, made an unexpected U-turn in March. From there, it quickly began taking on new adjectives:

Novel.
Unprecedented.
Inconvenient.
Uncertain.
Scary.

As people around the globe watched normal get thrown out the window, many found themselves with far more time on their hands than usual.

Schools? Cancelled.
Sports? Cancelled.
Appointments of most any kind? Cancelled.

To say the change was...

Local Author Event This Week

Happy Monday, everyone!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post. Though I’ve been quiet on the blog-front, I’ve been busy writing and brainstorming behind the scenes.

Oh, and scheduling appearances at local author events!

If you’re in the Bluffton, Indiana area, I’d love to have you join myself and several other local authors at the Wells County Public Library this Thursday, October 17th from 6-8pm. This is a family-friendly event, held inside a beautiful space. Authors will...

Release Day for The Soccer Player and the Single Mom!

Happy Monday, everyone! After a super fun week of highlights and character introductions, the big day is finally here: it’s release day for The Soccer Player and the Single Mom!

For most women, working for a sexy soccer star would be a dream come true. All except single mom Felicity Shaw. She has no interest in playing personal assistant for a stubborn, injured playboy—no matter how nice his abs are. But with bills piling up and mouths to feed, she can’t say no to the job.

That’s when it g...
