A New Journey

Today I begin a somewhat terrifying journey.

I’m beginning edits on a novel I completed in 2017 that brought me to my agent, but sadly didn’t go much further. Here’s the thing. I refuse to let this one go the way of several others. It’s too good.

So, I’ve decided to self-publish A Future Without, a near-future sci-fi/time travel that brings with it elements of a heart-wrenching romance and jaw-dropping action sequences.

I’d finally figured out how to end my script. The same one I’d thought I’d finished just a few hours before…but then I went for a run. Ba-boom. Fresh idea.

Anyway.

The Boy looked at me like I was crazy and asked how the heck I did it. He said, “You’re always working!”

Lately, it certainly feel...

New Endeavors

I’ve been working on this new thing: screenwriting.

It’s very very new. I saw some contests pop up and they gave me a little nudge nudge, wink wink.

I actually wrote my first script over the holidays – based on a book I’ve written (unpublished for now) – and submitted it for professional feedback. The review I received from that was so absolutely stellar. I’ve been on a bit of a high ever since. Unstoppable!

Reality has returned. I’d also submitted an action-comedy pitch recently; my ...

Emma Burke: to Contract, or not to Contract

“Voices articulate words—No, we don’t need her anymore; put her with the others—and I struggle to make sense of them to no avail. I know what they say is important. So important. Vital. Yet all meaning flashes through the vast … Continue reading
