My attempt at blogging ;)
This is my first attempt at blogging so bare with me.
So, I have been asked about a thousand times what made me want to write, especially a book like Life's Perfect Plan. Well here it is.
I read a ton when I was a child. I stopped reading for fun when college took all the fun out of reading. Then I got married then a baby, then another and another. So if I read, it was for a rated-G audience. Then 50 Shades happened. I'll never forget a neighbor of mine telling me I had to read it. I remember even looking at the cover and was like, "what is this?" She told me just try it you will love it. Well, I did and I read the 1st book in two days. I was so eager for book two that I sent my husband out to go get it. So, with many other women it all started with 50 Shades.
I loved my escape from everyday life when I read, that I started to frequently visit my local library. (I know this sounds like forever ago, but seriously this was 13 months ago.)I started to read Nora Roberts, Lori Foster, and Danielle Steele. I never heard of an Indie Author or what one was. My son turned ten in November and his grandparents gave him a Kindle Fire. I was curious and as I started to look for books for him, I came across grown up books for me. My first downloaded book was "The Proposition" by Katie Ashley and "Wanted" by Kelly Elliot. I eventually over took my sons Kindle and was one-clicking like an addict. I was reading a book a day. My husband had thought I lost my mind. With many hints, I received my Kindle for Christmas. Since then my life hasn't been the same.
While reading many books I realized that I hadn't come across a book that dealt with issues that hit close to home for me. Issues that millions of people go through everyday. So during spring break when I was hit with the flu, I opened up my lap top and decided to write my story...just for me. Mind you I haven't written a story NEVER...my last long paper I wrote was in college over 13 years ago. But, I didn't care and I was going to do it for me. So I imagined some fictional characters into my head, some scenarios along with experiences that I or loved ones encountered and typed away. In one week I typed over 48,000 words. I couldn't type fast enough for what was coming out of my head. I let me mother read what I had written so far and sitting there I watched my mother cry, laugh, and smile. When she closed the lap top and begged me to finish so she could find out what happens next, I seriously thought she was just being nice not wanting to hurt my feelings. Her words, "I knew you could do this. This is amazing." I was thrilled. So three weeks later I finished the book. Writing it was easy, learning about the Indie World now that was terrifying. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to give up and tuck it away.
Then, I met some amazing authors, bloggers and friends through Facebook. I even had some teach me how to make a FB page, then it was tracking down the steps to get my book in your hands. Slowly but surely everything fell into place. I look back at the last six months from the start of writing LPP to now and I am overwhelmed with pride in myself and honored at the response and experience. I could never imagined that I would have done what I have succeed. Not only did I finally follow my dreams, but I showed my sons that you strive and push for it, your dreams will happen. To never give up!
Now that book two is right around the corner, I feel overjoyed to give you book two. As much as LPP has a special place in my heart, I think Life's Next Chapter is my favorite. I love Kate and I can't wait to show you her story. I can't wait to show you more stories. I can't say it enough and will never stop, but Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of you support, kind words and helping hands.
So, this was my attempt at blogging and also letting you know a little about me and why I wrote LPP.
Thanks.
