Filled With the Spirit

sax
Not only have I played at concerts, clubs, parties, and other types of events, I have also played for church services as well, and most of the time I will get some type of compensation for my time and effort; however, I NEVER ask for money when I volunteer my time and abilities for a worthy cause.

Anyway, I was invited to play my tenor saxophone at this church because the band members of this congregation were in love with my playing and wanted to hear me jam. They began the service by laying down an awesome groove, and I launched into one of the coolest rides I had ever played in my life; I even impressed myself.🎷

I played the last part of the ride with my eyes closed as I stood in the middle of the stage and went to town. The congregation started clapping their hands and yelling. Yes, it was THAT kind of church. Some of the audience members even began speaking in tongues and dancing in the aisles as I was playing what was arguably one of the best rides I had ever played in my life.

After we finished, the crowd exploded into applause. I opened my eyes and looked out at the scene before me…

A nice lady in modest church-going attire had passed out right in front of me and was laying at my feet. Apparently, she was so filled with the spirit that she felt the need to fall down on the ground face first.

I’ll never forget that moment for the rest of my life…

Lessons Learned...
*Some church musicians really know how to jam.
*Playing for church services can be highly enjoyable.
*The next time someone tells you they are filled with the spirit,
check to make sure they are in an upright position.😲
