Uganda well

I have recently received news that a group of fourth graders at Middlebury Elementary School were inspired by 'A Thirst For Home' and decided to take action. So they went home with their empty water bottles, collected close to $700.00 and helped build a well in Uganda. This is magnificent and wonderful and better than any book award.

Bringing clean water to a community improves health and well being, and increases the possibility for children to go to school, especially girls. Educating girls is the way we can change the world for the better.

Thank you fourth grade students for doing so much more than just bringing clean water to a community!!

My theory was correct, kids can do anything. We just need to give them the tools and information. :)

A Thirst For home

This book that I have written is my heart and soul. It is fiction based on the events leading to my daughter's adoption. She was actually only two years old when her brave mother made the most painful yet selfless decision to give her up for a chance at a better life.

This is a woman that I met in 2008 when I adopted our daughter, and reunited with when I returned in 2012. She is my hero and my sister and we are forever connected. I wrote the story to honor her and bring attention to this global problem.

I am also passionate about the need for clean water around the world. Clean water = better health, a chance for girls to go to school and hope for an entire community.
