New Release The Cowboy and the Barista
This story was originally published in 2014 and it was only a 20,000 novella. When I got the rights back the book sat unpublished for many years. Then I picked it up this year and rewrote and restructured the entire book into a 70,000 full novel. I loved reconnecting with Asher and Thomas. Those two men are dear to my heart.
Some people don’t like reading about closeted men in our modern society. But it think it’s ridiculous to pretend that people don’t still live in the closet. Our society is becoming terrifying lately and we seem to be going backwards. There are many reasons gay people stay in the closet and to pretend homophobia doesn’t exist is silly. I still want to write stories that reflect the reality of the challenges our LGBTQ friends experience.
Hope you enjoy the new book and I look forward to hearing from you.
S.C.
Thomas Lexington is openly gay, confident, and the proud owner of The Coffee Corral. He’s always dreamed of opening his own gourmet coffeehouse in his small hometown of Albin, Colorado, and now that dream is a reality. Opening day is a huge success, and even the town penny-pinchers seem to love the new coffeehouse.
Asher Jones is a ruggedly handsome cowboy who wanders into Thomas’s coffeehouse on opening day. He usually gets his coffee at a local gas station, but his usual haunt is closed for renovations. The minute Asher and Thomas lay eyes on each other, there’s an immediate spark. One huge problem—Asher isn’t out of the closet.
Despite their immediate attraction, Thomas is wary of getting too close to Asher. He’s been hurt many times before by men who use him but refuse to be with him openly. Thomas refuses to ever go back to being someone’s dirty secret. But the two men share a natural, easy friendship that brings them closer and closer.
As their friendship grows, so does their undeniable chemistry. The two men try to keep things platonic, but when Asher tells Thomas he’s willing to come out after all, the men move beyond a platonic relationship. Thomas thinks he’s finally found a man who will love him openly—but then Asher suddenly backs out of his promise.

New Release Beyond the Veil
I haven’t had a new release in a while. I was sick toward the end of 2022 and never quite got my writing mojo back. I did produce a lot of stories under another penname for Radish, so I’ve been writing the entire time. But as far as S.C. Wynne stories, I fell short.
That’s why I’m so excited to let you know about Beyond the Veil. It’s an LGBTQ fantasy romance published with Blind Eye Books. It was wonderful working with BEB and I learned a lot about the fantasy genre working with Nicole Kimberling, editor and chief of BEB.
Here’s a snippet to tantalize the tastebuds:
“Wait,” he rasped, pointing toward the house. “You think the spirit of the old man did that?”
“No. But I’m wondering if his death attracted someone else. Something else.”
“So, you’re actually saying you don’t believe it was a… human who tossed the place?”
“I don’t.”
He gave a curt laugh. “Lorenzo, of course it was a human. It has to be.”
My heart sank. “Why?”
Scowling, he rubbed the back of his neck. “Because the alternative is ridiculous.”
“Not to me. Spirits are very real in my world, Ian.” He’d been a skeptic since I’d met him. His cynicism shouldn’t have surprised me. But a part of me had hoped he’d been softening a little toward the idea of psychic phenomena being real.
Apparently not.
“Look.” He raked a hand through his hair, and the green jewel on his ring seemed unusually dull and lifeless. “We left the house in a hurry. You didn’t lock the door, right?”
“No.”
“Okay then, it makes more sense that some unsavory types stumbled on the open door and went looking for something to steal.”
“They just happened along?”
“It makes more sense that a ghost doing it.”
Frustrated at his unwillingness to give an inch, I tried again from another angle. “Did you notice the smell? The rotting scent?”
His eyes flickered. “It would be hard not to.”
“That wasn’t there before, was it? It’s not unusual for smell to be a component in spiritual visits. Don’t you think it’s odd the house is mysteriously ransacked and suddenly there’s also a horrible stench?”
“Maybe a sewer line broke. There could be a lot of reasons for that odor.”
“And the power going out so suddenly?”
“Sometimes the power goes out, Lorenzo.”
I grimaced. “Okay, but the power outage is what got us out of the house.”
“You think… what?” His laugh was harsh. “That a spirit lured us out of the house by turning off the power and then it ransacked the place?”
Cheeks hot, I said, “You said you wouldn’t judge me.”
Guilt flickered through his eyes. “I’m not judging you… it’s just… I gotta be honest, I don’t believe a word you’re saying.”
“I’m not crazy,” I said quietly.
“I didn’t say you were. But you could be imagining things because you’re under a lot of stress.”
I scowled. “Come on, Ian, that’s bullshit.”
“Is it?” He exhaled roughly. “What would this supposed… spirit even be looking for?”
“I don’t know yet.”
He avoided my gaze, and his uneasiness intensified. “I’m sorry, Lorenzo. I… I just can’t wrap my head around your theory. It was probably just opportunists.”
If you enjoyed that taste the book is available at all the usual retailers!

Love isn’t any easier to find in the year 2069
Not that Eric is looking for love. After breaking up with his boyfriend a year ago, he’s been apathetic about getting back into the dating scene. What’s the point? Relationships always crash and burn anyway.
When Eric’s best friend, Sabrina, sends him an XP30 android named Sloot to help him get back in the saddle, so to speak, Eric is mortified. The plan is to send Sloot back to the factory, but when the android begs him to keep him as his housekeeper, Eric feels sorry for Sloot and gives him a trial run.
Sloot is the perfect companion, and Eric decides he’s found a way to avoid the messiness of emotional intimacy. But things get complicated because Sloot is no ordinary android. Unbeknownst to Eric, Sloot’s creator tinkered with him and gave him the ability to love.
I have a new release for you! This story was originally written in 2015. I realize there’s a lot of controversy about AI at the moment, so maybe the timing is off, but I loved this little story and when I got the rights back from a publisher, I revised it and added a bunch of new content.
It’s a cute, romantic gay romance between an android and a human.
Snippet:
I stood for a good ten minutes, marveling at modern science, and sweating under my armpits while weighing whether or not this was a good idea. If I juiced the guy up I’d probably be stuck with him forever. It might be too hard to reject the poor thing once it started talking. Taking in his narrow hips and rippled abs, I couldn’t help but wonder what was under the smooth jean material that covered his crotch.
I swallowed hard, thinking about all the stories I’d heard about what exceptional lovers the XP30s were. I wiped my forehead and took a deep breath. Then I pressed the charging disk to the spot under his arm and stepped back. Nothing happened at first, and then I heard a faint buzzing sound and his eyes opened.
They were a brilliant green, sort of like that iridescent moss you sometimes find at night in swamps. He blinked a few times, and then met my gaze, which sent an odd thrill down my spine.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve been in there a while and I really need to pee.” His voice was husky, and the sound of it startled me.
“Oh, yes. Of course.” I moved aside hurriedly. “I’m sorry I didn’t think of that.”
He grinned and it was beautiful, and warm. He even had dimples. That engaging flash of perfection was not at all what I’d been expecting from a non-human smile. “I’m just teasing. I don’t actually urinate.”
My cheeks heated. “You don’t?”
He shook his head. “Nope. It was just a bit of humor to break the ice.”
“Oh, you’re one of those funny robots.”
He laughed but then frowned. “We prefer the term android. Robot seems so cold and unfriendly.” A little smile played around his mouth. “XP30s are very friendly.”
“Hmmm.” I crossed my arms defensively. I hadn’t expected the thing to flirt with me. I’d assumed if I wanted any… action… I’d be the one making overtures.
Cocking his head, he held out his hand. “I’m Sloot.”
“Sloot?”
“It’s a weird name, I know. It’s made up of a combination of the letters from the compounds used to build me. They give us names because they think it makes us seem more humanlike.”
“But you aren’t human.” I wasn’t sure why I felt the need to say that. He felt human. His flesh was heated and firm as it gripped mine. I guess a small part of me wanted to distinguish myself from him. Was that because I felt superior? I wasn’t really sure.
“We have most of the good qualities human’s possess.”
Although I wasn’t positive I agreed with him, I didn’t really want to argue with a robot. “Can I get you anything?” Probably an odd thing to ask an android, but I wasn’t sure how to act around him. Did he have feelings I could hurt if I wasn’t polite enough?
“I wouldn’t mind if you showed me where your bedroom is.” He winked.
“Oh.” I flushed. “I don’t think…”
He tilted his head again, and his unusual green gaze was pinned intently on my face. “Aren’t you familiar with XP30s skills?” He arched one smooth eyebrow. “Surely you must be since I’m here in your home.”
“I’m vaguely aware of what you XP30s do. I know you’re a sex bot. But I didn’t purchase you.”
“No?” That seemed to surprise him.
“My friend Sabrina got you for me for my birthday. I’ve never had an android before and I wouldn’t have one now if it was up to me.”
He blinked at me. “Oh.”
I grimaced. “Of course, I’m impressed with the advances made in the field of robotics, but I’ve never felt the urge to own an android.”
“Well, this is awkward.” He tilted his head as he studied me. “I’m here now.”
“Yes,” I murmured, “You are indeed.”

Trust No one But Family. I Sound Like a Mob Boss.
People often want to know more about me personally. Okay. You asked for it. How about some insight into who I really am? If you’re a fan of mine, you might find this interesting. You probably already know I write about VERY damaged men. If not, you might not care. The beauty of it is, that I don’t care what you think of me, if you’re not my fan. If you don’t get what I’m about to share, you may go screw off because you’re nothing to me. If you’re my fan, I care. So thank you for relating
Are you a trusting person? I am not. My sisters and family have always been my best friend. What I have learned is people ALWAYS let you down. ALWAYS. I’ve literally NEVER met a person outside my family, other than my husband, who didn’t disappoint me somehow. They can call you BESTIE or whatever they come up with, but without fail, they never come through. They always either backstab you or let you down somehow. This is why I never actually trust anyone. I might pretend to. I might be sweet to you and let you think I trust you? But I don’t. Never. I know it is literally a matter of time before you burn me or let me down. I suppose it’s sad to live this way, but not really. I have my immediate family, who I’d die for, and that is good enough. I’m the most loyal person you’ll ever meet, if I care about you. I can count on two hands how many people I care about.
This is probably why I write such jaded characters. They’re always hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. They’re ultimately redeemed through love and trust. (Poor fools) But I like writing those stories. It is fiction, after all. Funny I’m so jaded, considering I am extremely happily married. Probably seems unlikely, but it’s true. My husband is a saint who puts up with my dysfunctional mistrust.
Friends find me, but I never let them too close. It is what it is. I’m happier this way. So this is S.C. in a nutshell. Love me or leave me, I don’t care and expect you to leave me.

Practice Kindness. Even when you don’t want to.
As I prepare for Christmas my house looks like a UPS store! lol We finally got our tree and it’s decorated and purity. We have lots of firewood delivered, so if the weather would just cooperate and stop being PERFECT we could have a nice cozy fire.
But life is good and I want to hold on to that happiness and not be negative when possible. That brings me to this morning’s post.
I had a wonderful dinner last night with my sisters. It’s our annual tradition at Christmas time and I always look forward to it! The restaurant is a very pricey French restaurant and the food and service are usually impeccable. THIS YEAR, however, our waitress wasn’t good. We’d have gotten another overpriced bottle of wine and ridiculously expensive dessert if she’d bothered to check on our table during the meal. lol (Maybe it’s for the best she didn’t?)
Because I was dissatisfied, I planned on leaving a negative review for dear Ruth, our waitress. BUT it occurred to me what a terrible thing it might be for Ruth to wake up to negativity from a customer, first thing in the morning. I decided I didn’t want to be a part of ruining her day. Who knows why Ruth wasn’t a good waitress last night? Maybe she has a lot of stressful things happening in her life. Maybe she was thinking about last-minute shopping she needed to do. I have no idea why Ruth didn’t provide great service. BUT I do know I don’t want to be a part of ruining Ruth’s morning.
So there will be no review complaining about Ruth.
I choose not to be negative energy in this world. I’d rather be a positive influence. But being positive takes work. It’s so much easier to be negative. Not sure why, but it seems to be true.
I still had a wonderful time with my sisters. Christmas isn’t about perfect service or being pampered. Christmas is about good cheer and being kind to others. At least, that’s what Christmas is to me.
I wish the world was kinder. I wish people were nicer. I wish people practiced patience. So, I’ll practice what I preach and remember last night as a lovely evening I got to spend with my beloved sisters.
