Okay, not quite, but we are getting close and I'm very excited for the autumnal weather and spooky reads! I'm already craving doing crochet projects under a blanket, listening to a good book, and watching spooky movies! *grin*

I have some fun stuff lined up for Spooky Season this year too! Still settling out some of the details, BUT I have a new Kickstarter that will launch in September/October (still setting it up, so looking more like October, but September is still possible!) and this one is for THE FINAL BOOK IN THE DEMON WITCH SERIES!!! 

That's right, the final book. The end of a series. I realize I am bad at this. I finished Cary Redmond and then just kept writing because I left some threads hanging. But this one wraps up the series. Now, there will be more about Angie's past and her series in a future Cary Redmond book because...reasons. But for now, this will represent the end of the Demon Witch series.

The Kickstarter prelaunch page is up now. Please follow that page and you'll get an email from Kickstarter when the campaign launches.

As the above graphic reveals, I'm also rebranding the series with new covers for this Kickstarter. I'm really excited about the new covers! BUT I realize that readers who have books in a series prefer when all the books they have have the same cover. But don't worry, I have a plan for that. *grin*

Spring is in full swing here in New York and all the allergies are activated. LOL. There's also a lot of rain. Which is lovely except that it puts a damper on baseball season.

BUT! We have books. And reading. So that's good stuff.

I also celebrated a birthday this month! Had a lovely day and got some very sweet presents from my family. My whipped ganache for my brownie cake failed several times, though, so now I'm going to be making chocolate ganache and whipping it up until I cracked the issue and can make gorgeous ganache (I'm really bothered by the fact that it kept failing! LOL). So if anyone is wondering why I'm bouncing off the walls from a chocolate high over the next few weeks, that'll be the reason. Other than the failed ganache, though, I had a lovely birthday and am delighted to have made it one more time around the sun!

In the publishing arena this month, things are relatively quiet--specifically scheduled that way so I'd have plenty of time to do Kickstarter fulfillment. I do have a standalone short story from last year's Haunts and Howls collection out wide today. There is a fun angsty romance short story up at The Cafe now. And I have some look ahead news to let you all know about.

This month's release is THE TROLL AND THE DRESSMAKER, a fantasy fairytale with some unexpected heroes. And with that, I've officially offered my 11th free short story at the Cafe. After June's two stories release, that will be six months and time for a collection! I've started to put that together. It'll be out in eBook and Print (Trade and Large Print) from KatSimonsBooks on July 23rd, and released everywhere else on the 30th of July.

As I mentioned above, I've spent a lot of time in May working on the fulfillment for the Kickstarter for The Dragon Thief Series Omnibus. And I'd just like to once again say THANK YOU to the people who were able to back the Kickstarter. It's been really fun getting to make fancy editions of this book.
In addition to being able to do the fancy omnibus editions, I was also able to put the individual stories into their own individual print editions! Those books should be populating out now to the various vendors for a wide release on August 5th. The next day, August 6th, is the wide release of THE DRAGON THIEF SERIES, SEASON ONE, Omnibus in eBook and Trade paperback.

The eBook, Trade paperback editions of the individual book and the omnibus, and the fancy paperback, hardback, and slipcases will all be available through KatSimonsBooks in June. so look out for those! Just a heads up that for some reason the bit.ly version of my newsletter link is down. I haven't changed the redirect in years. It's still just an ordinary Mailchimp newsletter. Nothing weird or nefarious going on. No idea what's happened at bit.ly. But the author newsletter hasn't vanished and it hasn't started spamming people. So weird.

I'm waiting for bit.ly to get back to me about the appeal I filed. They seem to have updated their system or something recently and the link got banjaxed in the process. And they're saying they have an usually high number of appeals being filed which makes me think it's something on their end. The story for the 15th is a sweet little story about finding music and a new friend. JAMAR AT THE CAFE will be available to read for free through the 30th of April.

NEWS

Lot going on this month, but May will be a little quieter. I have a short story from HAUNTS AND HOWLS AND FAIRY DALES releasing as a standalone eBook, which I'll talk more about next month. And there will be two new Café stories, of course, so watch out for those.

I will also start sending out Kickstarter rewards and finalizing the print rewards. Once that starts happening, I'll also get the retail print editions up for preorder through other online retailers and KatSimonsBooks. And I'll set up the deluxe editions of the book through my store (they will be exclusive to KatSimonsBooks).

A quick note on Tariffs

By the time this post goes live things might have even changed (and changed again), and if they have, I'll come back and comment here, but the tariffs imposed by the current US administration are likely going to affect my small business. How and when, I'm not sure yet, because the situation keeps changing.

Fortunately, eBooks are good to go, no matter where you are. That will remain the same. My three different print distributors also have printing facilities in individual countries outside the US, which should (I hope!) make getting paperbacks in those countries easy enough, without the added cost of higher tariffs.

There's still a lot up in the air, and it will be a changing environment for the foreseeable future *sigh*. When I know how things are affecting my books, I'll post about it, but at the moment (as I type this), I'm not entirely sure how all this will play out. Or even if things will be different for my books or not. Hopefully, the chaos doesn't last too long. (I've edited this section once already before it goes live, so...we'll see.)
