I believe that this is because I only write when a subject moves me to do so. When my mind is engaged, the words just stream out.

Unfortunately, having something to write does not save me from writing boring, or senseless stream of consciousness dribble on occasion. It took a while for me to learn that having something interesting in my mind, did not always equate with having something readable to write.

Currently I do not publish anything until at least one day "off". Reading back what I had written with a new days perspective often opens my eyes to my errors, omissions, or just uninspiring content. Many of my blog posts have been massively rewritten after holding myself to this new form of self-censorship.

So my recommendation is to not write anything until you have a passion about something that compels you to start typing. Then, allow that passion to drive the prose. But after completing your masterpiece, wait for the passion to subside and allow yourself time for logic and reason to surface. Then review your words as your targeted readers will. If the words raise your passion anew, it's time to hit the publish button.(less)
