I’ve been writing stories since I was a teenager dreaming of fame and fortune in the literary world. While I’m still waiting on the fortune part, I’ve published over 50 books, mostly in horror, but also in literary fiction, thrillers, Westerns, young adult, and children’s genres—sometimes under other names.

My writing tends to explore the darker sides of life, often blending the supernatural with raw human emotion. If you like slow-burn psychological horror with depth, you’ll probably find something on my shelf worth reading.

In my other lives, I’ve worked as a machinist, journalist, corporate writer, public relations guy, and English teacher. I have a master's degree in creative writing from the University of Oklahoma, and a background in jo

I can tell you from personal experience that when we have some sort of disaster, whether it's a massive tornado or a terrorist attack, Americans come together to take care of those in need. Individuals buy and donate items and businesses contribute, such as when a major brewery stops producing beer to can thousands of gallons of water. We've had a lot of disasters here in Oklahoma, and after each one you'll find people helping with clean up, stockpiles of food, bottled water, clothes, etc. waiting for those in need.

We certainly have our issues in America, and we have corporations that seem to operate without ethics, but for the most part I think you'd find the average American to be pretty compassionate toward his fellow man.(less)

When Memory Fails, Do the Sins Stay?

What happens to a man’s soul when his mind is gone?

It’s a question that haunted me long before I ever wrote The Dead of the Day. I’ve seen people I cared about fade slowly into the fog of dementia—forgetting names, faces, entire chapters of their lives. The body stays, the eyes still open, but the person behind them? It’s like watching someone drift away in pieces.

I'm loving it so far. I saw your review and you liked the same things about it I'm enjoying. It may turn out to be better than The Little Paris Bookshop, and that's my favorite book I've read so far this year.

Cristina Sburlea Hi, I am organizing a giveaway. On December 8, I will send out a copy of my epic fantasy novel titled Creatures of Darkness and Light - titans, humans, and the beasts and my paranormal fantasy novel titled 300 Years of Sin (btw, there are no sparkly vampires here, but there's quite the body count), each e-book will go to a different person. Those who want to participate have to like and leave a comment (on my FB wall) with the name of the e-book they want. If you would like to participate, you can check out my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/MariaCristin... or my Goodreads page blog.

Cristina Sburlea thank you for accepting my friend request :)

Beverly I can't seem to get the author thing to work. Can you contact me by email and explain how I get to do this? I want to list my books and be listed on the author site, but I'm obviously missing something as I can't seem to make it work. I'm such a luddite!

Jeremy I want to apologize for the all the recommendations from me today. I wanted to share the Stoker Award news, and I only pressed the send button once--I'm not sure what happened.

Argh...this is terrible...

Again, I'm very sorry.

-Jeremy

Courtney Thanks for the add! I loved Shara and just got a copy of Murdered by Human Wolves!

Jeremy Thanks for the goodreads friendship, Steven!

Here’s wishing you a nifty new 2008 filled with noiseless noses, neato nicknames, noble Nebraskans, gnarly narcoleptic nebulas, and novel novels about nut-eating narwhals and novercaphobic gnats.

I thought I'd let you know that my novel “Vacation” has been nominated for the best Horror Novel of 2007 in the Preditors & Editors Readers' Poll. So far it's ranked 3rd.

In case you're interested in voting (today's the last day to vote), feel free to visit the website by clicking here:
http://www.critters.org/predpoll/nove...

Thanks again!

-Jeremy :)

PS—if you do decide to vote, you should know that you need to validate the vote by clicking on the validation link in the email they send you.

"Shipp's clear, insistant voice pulls you down into the rabbit hole and doesn't let go."
--Jack Ketchum

"[Vacation] is an intriguing, challenging, literate, provocative novel I'm not sure I understand and suspect I'm not meant to… I recommend it to those who find reality boring; it may make them see it in new ways."
