Emilia: Part 2 (Trassato Crime Family #4) Release and Giveaway

Emilia: Part 2 is now available!

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40743501-emilia-part-2

Blurb:

I’m the head of the Masciantonio family. I’m a dangerous, ruthless, unforgiving man, and I know how to fight dirty.

Fate put Emilia Trassato in my path. I saw a future with her—I saw hope. But she didn’t agree, and I let her walk away.

Now she’s back, but I’m no longer free to claim her. Yet, the minute our eyes meet I know there’s nothing in this entire goddamn world strong enough to keep me from her.

She’s the only woman I’ve ever wanted, and I don’t care how many promises I have to break, or how many lives I have to destroy…I’m not letting her go. Not again.

Because this time…she’s mine.

Excerpt:

“I know what you’re thinking, Em. You’re planning to run again. Don’t do it. Your family loves you. They want you back. We all do.” I whirled around, the half dead blood-pumping organ beneath my ribcage beating fast and desperately. Sal stood less than a foot from me, his face exactly as I remembered it—all razor-sharp angles, a little curve at the bridge of his nearly too long nose, perfectly counterbalanced by his full bottom lip. The heavy shadow of stubble made his olive skin appear darker along his jaw. Nostalgia pinched at my chest. Too bad he didn’t look as ugly on the outside as he was on the inside. It would make seeing him so much easier.

“Don’t. Okay? Just don’t start with the lies today of all days. Not when I have every reason to suspect my deranged family put a contract out on my husband and killed him.”

He reeled backward as if I had physically slapped him. “I don’t know what’s goin’ on in your head, but I can assure you the Trassatos didn’t have anything to do with your husband’s death.”

I shoved the hard wall of his chest, and he stumbled, unprepared for my assault. “He was shot through the mouth. I may have been young and naïve when I ran away, but even I know that type of killing is a message in our world.”

== BLURB ==

Freedom and a meaningful life away from the violence of the Trassato Crime Family is all I ever wanted…

But what I want doesn’t matter now that I’m caught in a tug of war between two men in the dangerous world of organized crime.

Marcello Masciantonio is the man my father expects me to marry. He wants me because I’m the daughter of Dominick Trassato, New York’s most powerful crime boss. He says he’s my future, and I want to hate him, but I can’t deny the spark that burns between us.

Salvatore D’Amico is perfect. He supports me. He understands me. He’s willing to betray my father and give up his family to have me. He doesn’t care about the power that comes with being part of my family. He wants me for me.

My choice is simple, right?

Wrong.

Everyone has an agenda, including Salvatore and Marcello, and just when I think I have everything figured out, I realize I don’t know a damn thing.

Truths are lies. Freedom is lonely. But worst of all…

My love triangle is actually a hate triangle.

Truths are lies. Freedom is lonely. But worst of all…

My love triangle is actually a hate triangle.

Excerpt:

Marcello placed his hand on my lower back and guided me forward.

I let him because I didn’t have a choice. From the minute my eyes collided with his, I felt as if a tornado had swept into my life and flung me around without regard for the consequences.

When we entered the great room, my heart was still pounding, and my muscles were doing a good impersonation of overcooked noodles. At least a hundred sets of eyes gawked back at me, but the only one I could see was Sal.

Marcello’s arm shifted, sliding around my hip, pulling me tight to his side. He grinned down at me with a look I could only describe as possessive. Then his gaze cut to Sal and the air buzzed with unexpected tension.

I didn’t have time to dwell on it because my father handed Marcello and me a glass of champagne and stepped forward, his hands raised in the air. “Family and friends, it is with great pleasure that I announce my beautiful daughter’s engagement to Marcello Masciantonio. From the moment, I met this man, I hoped he’d make a wonderful partner for my Emilia. From everything I’ve heard, he is loyal and smart. I’m overjoyed he’ll be my son soon. I know my wife would’ve felt the same. Salute.

The clinking of glasses echoed through the room, and I stood in front of everyone who was anyone in my life, completely unresponsive and lightheaded. A toxic concoction of panic, dread, and restlessness seeped into my veins, and I painted a nauseatingly fake smile on my face. As best as I could tell, no one noticed or cared. They saw what they wanted to see—a compliant daughter accepting her fate.

“To my beautiful fiancée. I can’t wait to start our life together.” Marcello tapped his glass against mine and I lifted it to my lips, letting the sweet bubbles pop on my tongue before sliding down my barren throat, nearly choking on it and the strange reality of life.

He set our glasses on a nearby table and cradled my face with his big calloused hands, a diabolic gleam in his eyes. Where his hard body touched mine, my skin became hot, needy. In retrospect, I should have given him what he wanted in my dad’s office, and maybe he would have spared me from making a scene in front of everyone. Apprehension clawed up my chest, and I shook my head slightly, hoping I could convince him not to kiss me when I couldn’t fight back without turning this whole party into a spectacle I’d never live down.

Rather than yielding to my not so subtle plea, he tightened his hold on me, and his lips slanted against mine. I stiffened, and he whispered against my mouth, “Relax and put your arms around me, little Emilia. It’s only a kiss. I won’t hurt you, and you won’t hurt me since you promised to keep your biting tendencies in check.”

My mouth parted at his joke, and he took advantage. His tongue thrust inside, kissing me, teasing me. I whimpered, and my arms tightened around his shoulders like he was the only thing keeping me standing.

My stomach danced, and my nipples hardened. Every brush of his lips or curl of his tongue turned my world upside down. All the reasons why this was a bad idea slipped my mind, and all I wanted to do was drink in everything he had to offer, damn the consequences. When we finally separated, my hands remained on his shoulders and our legs tangled like lovers. Marcello smirked, and I shut down from what could only be shock.

Light, tittering laughter pierced my kiss-induced haze, reminding me where we were. The implications of what I’d done settled deep into my bones and flames licked my face. I elbowed him, desperate to regain my sanity and keep this man at arm’s length. My eyes flitted sightlessly around the room, seeking out Sal, and he was nowhere to be found.

I inhaled deeply, shoving away the guilt taunting me. Sal knew how I felt about him, and he understood what I needed to do to make the future we planned together a reality. Both of us had to play this role for another month, then we’d be free to do whatever we wanted. No price was too high for our freedom. We could do this. A few kisses wouldn’t change anything.

Hating You (Before You Series #4) Sneak Peak!

I’ve had a few questions about the fourth book in the Before You Series. I’m posting the first chapter here. This is one of the stories on my to-write list this year. I just finished the first part of Emilia in the Trassato Crime Family. Right now, the working title is “Nothing Left to Lose”. I’m powering through the second book in her story, then I want to finish up this series. Enjoy! Sorry in advance for the errors. This is unedited, raw and maybe a little ugly.

  CHAPTER ONE

Wide-eyed and stunned silent, the gray and white striped wallpaper of the Las Vegas hotel room blurred together into one muddied colo,r and the phone slipped from my hand. Sarah’s voice taunted me from the floor of the swirling patterned carpet except I could no longer decipher a single word.

I had a son. An eight-year-old son.

My mind reeling, I chided himself for answering a call from a number I didn’t recognize. Hearing Sarah’s soft, melodic voice left me speechless for a few cloudy moments I tried to process the fact that Sarah had actually called me after nine years of mutually agreed upon silence.

Then, she dropped the bomb about having a son.

A fucking son.

What kind of person doesn’t bother to tell you have a son for eight years?

Sarah, that’s what kind of person.

I wagged my head back and forth as though I could stop the roar of blood echoing in my ears. Images of the last time I saw her battered my brain and the icy grip of long ago buried anger clawed at my chest.

Picking up the phone, I growled “Why should I believe you? How do you know he’s mine?”

Silence, except the soft whisper of her breath greeted me. “Seriously?” Sarah’s voice cracked and split second of remorse pressed like a ton of bricks against my chest. “After everything we’ve been through, how could you ask me that?”

“Because it’s been over eight years since I’ve heard a word from you. I don’t know.” I scraped my hand through my hair. “Maybe you want money. Maybe your family finally realized what a—”

“Shut up! Shut up! I don’t want your money. I have my own money.” A loud banging noise echoed through the phone. “I don’t want anything from you.”

Sarah’s family had money…old money. The kind of money that passed soundlessly from one generation to the next, doubling almost effortless, and even though I walked away from that life years ago, I was well acquainted with old money.

My family was a carbon copy Sarah’s except the transfer to my generation wouldn’t be soundless. It came with conditions and strings so thick, I’d strangle under their weight, and I fully intended to reject my legacy when the time came. I had plenty money now that Chasing Ruin had become a household name, and it didn’t come with the social constraints of old money. I could step over every boundary and be everything that would make my ancestors roll in their graves, and instead of being chastised, I would be applauded.

“Except that you do want something.”

“Something that won’t cost you anything except a few signatures. I want you to sign the adoption papers so my fiancé can adopt Jameson.”

Jameson. Jameson. Jameson. The name reverberated through my head. That name simultaneously meant everything and nothing. Sarah and I had picked the name when we were stupid teenagers who didn’t know a damn thing about the way life worked.

“No!” The refusal burst from my mouth before I couldn’t second-guess my motives.

“Jack and I will pay you. What do you want?” she pleaded.

“I don’t want your money, and I sure as hell don’t want Jack’s money.” Just the thought of taking money from Sarah or Jack made my blood turn to ice. Sarah stomped on my heart when we were twenty years old, and Jack stole my life right out from under me. Marcus just couldn’t believe that it had taken them almost nine years to get engaged.

“Then what do you want?”

I toyed with the threads of my frayed jeans. “I want my son.” I’d already handed over the only woman I had loved to Jack. I refused give him my son too.

Sarah gasped. “What does that mean?”

Fuck. I didn’t know what that meant. My mind spun in circles, struggling to come up with a rational answer. “I want him in my life. I want visitation rights. I want to know him. That’s only fair.”

“No.” Sarah’s voice was less than whisper.

“Yes,” I responded, his voice stronger and firmer than before.

“He doesn’t even know you exist.”

If Sarah was within arm’s length at the moment, I would’ve been hard pressed to suppress my urge to wrap my hand around her pretty little neck. My jaw snapped closed so hard, I was lucky he didn’t crack a tooth. “Then, I suggest you make sure he knows I exist.”

“No way. You’re not going to storm back into his life just to fuck with Jack and me, and then leave when you’ve found something better to occupy your time.”

“I don’t give a damn about you or Jack. I haven’t given either one of you a second thought since I left Connecticut almost nine years ago,” I spat, the blatant lie rolling off his tongue like water courtesy of nearly a decade of practice.

No matter how many faceless, nameless women that feel in and out of my bed, I’d never successfully erased Sarah from my mind. I could attribute it the fact that she was my first love, my first friend, and my first everything. But maybe it was because she had planted herself so deep in my heart before crushing it in the palm of her dainty hand. In the nine years since, I hadn’t found anything close to love I had with her. Quite honesty, I’d rather down a bottle of poison than willingly expose myself to those kind of feelings again.”

“I won’t do it. I won’t allow you to tear apart Jameson’s life on whim.”

“It doesn’t matter what you want. You gave up the moral high ground years ago. I have my attorney contact you. In the meantime, don’t fucking call me again.”

“Ugh,” she screamed through the phone. “I hate you.”

“You don’t know the meaning of hate until you’ve walked in my shoes.”

I tossed his phone at the wall, savoring the cracking noise as it made impact.

Two seconds later, someone tapped him on the shoulder, and he was staring in a pair of bloodshot blue eyes. “Are you okay?” the women asked.

Liza. Lilly. Lizzy. Just like every other women he slept with in the last nine years, he didn’t bother to commit her name to memory. His didn’t have the room. For better or worse, everything belonged to Sarah and she’d taken everything from me that day.

My trust.

My love.

My soul.

My reason to live.

Now, she wanted to steal my son too. “Over my dead, rotting body,” I mumbled under his breath.

“Excuse me?” Liza, Lilly or Lizzy said, letting the white sheet slither down her body, exposing two silicone breasts.

I couldn’t deal with this chick now. “Leave,” I barked out, standing up from the bed.

“Are you mad at me?”

“Just leave.” I picked up her clothes and shoes and held them out to her.

“Can I take a shower?”

What the hell was wrong with her? I’d just shattered my phone against the wall after talking to my ex-girlfriend, and she wanted want to stick around and make nice. “No. Put your fucking clothes on and get out of my room. I’m done.”

Her eye narrowed to slits and chewed on her overly plump lips. “You’re an asshole. I hate you.”

I snorted. “Seems to be a popular opinion.” I opened the door. “Get out.”

She pulled a scrap of red fabric over her head and walked out the door, with her blonde hair sticking up and red lipstick smeared across her face.

~BLURB~

Once upon a time, I was the woman you envied. I had it all. A wonderful family. The perfect fiancé who also happened to be my best friend. Money and resources. The power and influence that came with sharing the Trassato name.

One night my fairytale became a nightmare, and I’ve been living in Hell ever since. A rival family killed my fiancé. My father succumbed to cancer. In the middle of it all, I bargained away my future to Konstantin Trincher, a member of the Russian mafia. It seemed like the perfect solution at the time—my brother’s girlfriend in exchange for me.

Only things weren’t that simple. I promised myself to Konstantin and my family promised me to Nico DeAngelo, the underboss of the Trassato Crime Family.

Konstantin and I form an alliance to unravel our bargain. The only problem? We didn’t expect to fall for each other in the process. Now I’m forced to choose between love and loyalty. One choice will break my heart and the other will break my family.

~EXCERPT~

He pulled a money clip from his pocket and plopped a wad of hundreds on the table in front of me. For a beat, I stared, unmoving. His tattooed hand captivated me, so large, and strong. I couldn’t look away from the tiny stars, crosses, and swirling designs.

I opened my mouth to object, except I didn’t have the chance. His head dipped closer, and his lips were on mine. I stopped breathing for a fraction of a second, and I fully intended to break contact, only I didn’t. The increasingly familiar pull between us dragged me under like quicksand.

One graze, and I startled, electricity crackling through my nerve endings. A quick nip of his teeth, and he stole my breath. Seconds. Minutes. Hours. I didn’t know how much time passed with his mouth lingering against mine, his exhalations becoming my inhalations. My head buzzed and my lips tingled, but worst of all, he tasted good—full and smoky, like whiskey and sin, except a thousand times more lethal. One of my hands cupped the side of his face, silently willing him not to stop. His stubble felt like sandpaper beneath my fingers.

After months, maybe years, of feeling nothing, I felt a spark of something and my heart softened a little toward him.

Fuck.

“Good luck, solnyshka,” he whispered as he broke away, his voice rough and low. It vibrated through me from the top of my head all the way to the soles of my heel-clad feet, rippling into the floor, and I felt unsteady for a beat like my entire world had shifted without my permission.
