COVER REVEAL – Seekers in the Void

Coming May 22nd from all the usual suspects!

Seekers in the Void is a new standalone novel in a world of corporate power and mysteries—some alien and some very human.

Preorder on Amazon now!

Cover of the novel Seekers of the Void by Glynn Stewart.A starship and a small moon orbit an icy planet. A beam of energy rises from the planet toward the moon, ending in a burst of light about two-thirds of the way between the two planets.

Seekers in the Void

Captain Cirilo Webster is what his universe calls a “Saint” – a senior officer of the Santiago Corporation, the people with a complete monopoly on interstellar travel.

He’s spent a decade doing the Company’s dirty work in their CorpSec branch, a service that cost him an arm but gained him enough trust and favor that he now has command of his own ship.

Of course, his ship is small and old, which makes it hard to find cargo. So when a university wants to launch a research expedition to an uninhabited system, his ship is just about perfect.

Not that the university is telling him everything. Not that the Company is ever on the up-and-up.

But Cirilo is going to take care of his crew and his ship. He’s going to watch out for the Company’s interests. And, because there was a time he was too late, he’s going to make very sure that the semi-organic security robot starting to ask strange questions gets to live long enough to make it’s own decision on such minor matters like whether it has a soul…

Cover Reveal: The Valkyrie Stratagem

It’s cover reveal time!

The third House Adamant book, launching March 27, is The Valkyrie Stratagem.

You can preorder Lorraine’s new adventure now!

A promise of victory

A long journey home

The price of alliances

Lorraine Adamant, Pentarch of the Kingdom of Adamant, has crossed hundreds of light-years to find the allies needed to overthrow her uncle: the man who killed her family and stole her mother’s throne.

The allies she found aren’t the allies she wanted, but three powerful sentient battlecruisers and a skilled covert operator from the United Worlds’ seedy underbelly are a force to be reckoned with. Between the firepower of the Valkyrie-class battlecruisers, the minds of the Synthetic Intelligences that command them, and the skills of the spy who loves her, Lorraine has a real chance of saving her Kingdom.

If she can get them all home.

2024 in retrospect, 2025 ahead

(Image is of our two cats, Freya and Skadi, looking out the front door above a “Beware of Cat” welcome mat”, with Halloween “Caution-Danger” tape above their furry heads)A bit late on retrospective, but I’m looking as much forward as backward today.

I didn’t do one of these in 2023. Things were chaotic and messy at the end of that year, and it took a lot longer for things to settle down than I had hoped or expected.

At the end of 2023, my partner and I moved back to Calgary to be closer to family. After losing my mother and everything around that, we wanted to make sure that we were available to support my siblings and father—and with some of what happened in Ontario, we needed their support in turn.

It seems to have worked out in some ways, if not as well as I’d hoped. To manage the workload for both of us, I slowed things down and we only released six new titles in 2024: Chimera’s Star, The Exodus Gambit, Wartorn Stars, Ambassador for Mars, The Old Guard and Raven’s Hope.

2024 saw me kick off a new series with House Adamant, which has been greeted warmly by fans old and new. There’ll be two more books with Lorraine in 2025, and then I will see where that series goes. I have an idea for books five and onward!

Starship’s Mage continues, with poor Roslyn getting into deeper and deeper trouble while Damien keeps the home lights on. There will be two Starship’s Mage books in 2025 as well, delving deeper into the events at the frontier with the Reezh / Reejit.

2024 also saw the ten year anniversary of the Starship’s Mage series starting and the end of our existing audiobook licensing agreements on the first five books. This fortunate coincidence struck us as a chance to do something special with the series, which became the Anniversary Editions—edited ebooks and paperbacks with new audiobook recordings.

There’s been some unexpected difficulties there, mostly caused by Audible not handling books that are no longer in circulation at all well.

We have two more Anniversary Edition books to release in 2025 (noticing a pattern of twos here? I am!).

Raven’s Hope marked the end of the Peackeepers of Sol series. While there are open threads in the setting, Hope wrapped up the Expeditionary Fleet’s arc nicely and made for a good point to leave the series. While I never say I absolutely will not return to a series, there are no plans.

I do plant to continue Teer and Kard’s adventures sometime in 2025 and I will also be releasing a brand new science fiction adventure novel (potentially the kickoff for a series, depending on how well it does, since nothing stays a standalone in my brain!).

While I work hard to be optimistic in all of my work, I have definitely seen that the presence of a real war on people’s minds has slowed the interest in military science fiction overall. I will be experimenting with more adventure-focused works, stepping away from the more directly military style I have written in the past.

We’ll see how it goes.

I’m hopeful for the new year. The last few have been non optimal for us, but we seem to finally have our feet under us.

Plus, in the immortal words of Alanis Morissette, “the only way out is through.”

Happy reading everyone. I hope your 2025 is full of calm, warmth, and highly precedented events.

Everything You Need to Know About the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions

Book cover of Starship's Mage Book 1 by Glynn Stewart. The Starship's Mage 10th Anniversary edition features a Mage surrounded by lightning holding up a floating starship by magic.Hello, readers! Thank you for reviewing, rereading, and offering your support as we release the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions. Your boundless support for the Starship’s Mage series over the years has been a source of joy and inspiration for both Glynn and I, on the writing and the publishing side. We appreciate every time you dive into the books, share your thoughts in a review, or reach out to us with a message. Every time you do, you remind us of why we do what we do! Your enthusiasm for the series keeps it alive and allows Glynn to keep writing and publishing the books that he loves.

Our latest project here at Faolan’s Pen Publishing has been creating 10th anniversary editions of the first five Starship’s Mage books. This involves creating new ebooks, paperbacks, and audiobooks for each of the five books, so I’ve collected some of the frequently asked questions about the editions here.

If you have any questions, here are some things to know:

Health and Response Times

Glynn and I are both dealing with some recovery from illness right now, so we’re responding to messages more slowly than usual. We appreciate your patience and kindness during this time, and we’ll do our best to respond as soon as we can!

Can I still read the books I bought before the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions came out?

Some of you might have spotted hiccups in the listings with previous editions of Starship’s Mage Books 1-5. We’re actively working to resolve these, but in the meantime, you can rest easy knowing that any books you’ve already purchased are still in your library.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

Ebooks: Some of the older edition Starship’s Mage ebooks might temporarily be shown as not part of the series. You can search your library for the title, and it will still be there!Audiobooks: It’s difficult to search your library for older editions, so we put together a guide. Check it out how to get your audiobooks that aren’t showing up.What’s different about the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions?

What makes the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions such a big event? Here’s a sneak peek directly from Glynn’s notes…

Starship’s Mage Book 1 : “This has been revised remove much of the awkwardness of it originally being written as novellas.  While the episodes remain as individual story arcs, the initial reintroductions at the start of each arc have been smoothed. As my oldest published work, I also found the writing quite rough going back to it, so it has been re-copyedited and smoothed throughout. Plus, it now has chapters!”Books 2-5: “These books didn’t have the same issue of being an omnibus of shorter works, but were still some of my earliest works and it showed.  They’ve been revised for errors found over the years, re-copyedited, and generally smoothed over and gently cleaned up.”Why did you release the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions under new ASINs/ISBNs instead of just updating the existing text?

Starting fresh meant losing the advantages of Amazon search rankings, reviews, and everything the original editions had built up over time. Still, the updates we made were significant enough that Glynn and I felt it was important to release new editions to be transparent with his readers. We didn’t think it would be fair to update the existing books without making it clear that these versions included substantial changes, especially in Starship’s Mage Book 1.

I know that some readers are suspicious of re-releases, but I think they’re overestimating the benefit that we get from them. We’ve also worked hard to make sure that everyone still has access to the editions that they’ve bought previously.

Are the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions still in Kindle Unlimited?

Absolutely. For our loyal KU readers, the new editions of Starship’s Mage, Hand of Mars, Voice of Mars, Alien Arcana, and Judgment of Mars will be available in Kindle Unlimited from the day they’re published. Whether you’re reading them for the first time or revisiting old favorites, you’ll be able to borrow them through KU until at least May 2025.

What’s going on with the older books that currently AREN’T in Kindle Unlimited?

Good question! Due to Kindle Unlimited’s terms, we can only have one version of a book in the program at a time, and each enrollment lasts for 90 days. This means that as we prepare the new editions, there might be a gap where the older versions aren’t available in KU before the updated ones launch. We know it’s not ideal, and we appreciate your patience during this transition.

Once the new editions are released, they’ll be back in KU, ready for you to enjoy. All of the books will be back in Kindle Unlimited as of February 11, 2025.
