One minute, I'm checking proof copies, and the next I'm updating the ISBN details. What I'm not doing right now is writing, which is killing me. I need to get back to the sequel asap!!(less)

Fortunately, technology has moved on and most webcams are now encrypted, but the idea stayed with me. And, like most authors, I asked the classic question, "What if...". The result is a complex thriller centred around an illegal website broadcasting webcam feeds and what happens when a serial killer . . . got to stop now, don't want to include any spoilers!(less)

Hobnobbing with Crime Fiction’s Finest at CrimeFest 2017!

I'm proud to announce that I've been invited to participate in a panel at this year's CrimeFest, the international crime fiction convention held in Bristol, England. CrimeFest is mainly focused on traditionally published authors, with this year's headliners including Ann Cleeves, Anthony Horrowitz and Peter Lovesy. However, the festival is increasingly recognising the talent of […]

Martha Perez Hi Ian! Happy to meet you! Always nice to make more friends.

Phyllis Goodwin Thanks for being a friend. I like your piece about coffee. It reminded me of the way my Mother used to prepare the beverage. It was with boiled milk and stirred madly with a fork or whisk. I suppose it was an old fashion 'latte'. I hope to read your book about Twitter.

Ian Fellow authors: how much coffee do you drink while writing? And do you think it affects what you write?

In my case, I was reviewing my novel and realised that 'coffee' found its way into my book in all sorts of ways. And I don't mean spilled onto my manuscript, I mean as in made it into the content!! It was there as plot devices, as character traits, as locations and as backgrounds. Which made me wonder whether I'd stumbled across a narrative motif. Or was I just a victim of society's latest craze, coffee culture?

You can read my full analysis of this, ahem!, nail biting dilemma in my latest blog post: http://ian-sutherland.net/2013/10/25/...
