Storyteller with the Heart of an Artist

Novels I write are not about me—my story exists outside the books I publish—yet there is no part of me separate from my work as an author.

Born from my soul and labor, writing novels is not casual, not trivial, never a passing hobby. To overlook this passion is to fail to know me.

I’m amazed by how long I lived without knowing myself.

For decades, even after winning a creative writing fellowship from my first novel, I was under a spell that canned my ability to introduce myself first and foremost as a novelist. The characters Amie, Eurydice, D, Sunny, Attar and The Actor broke that spell for good.

I am a novelist—poet, writer, storyteller with the heart of an artist. I am an author.

A life rich in people who get this—who know the inner worth of each book published—an author’s dream fulfilled.

I look forward to enjoying a life from this point forward filled with people who get what this means and shine it back to me. Readers, writers, lovers and agents of celebration in fiction and reality. For you, I am infinitely grateful.
