Stuff I've Been Feeling Lately is being ADAPTED INTO SOMETHING AMAZING!

My book Stuff I've Been Feeling Lately has been adapted into a Song Cycle. Basically a baby opera! Over a year in the making, on Friday the lights will dim, the piano will start, and I will listen to my origin story in a way I never imagined possible.

Announcing my NEW POETRY BOOK

The Final Chapter. This is it – the last piece of my mixtape series. ‘The Music Was Just Getting Good’ is now available for pre-order. Add it on Goodreads! It will be released on January 9.

The Music Was Just Getting Good

In these pages, I've returned to the themes you expect to see from me: mental health, hope, and grief. Grief isn't confined to death alone. We grieve for who we used to be, for moments that never found their way into existence, for the physical places that hold our memories, and most profoundly, for our people. People who've departed earth, but also those who walked away and those we had to let go. It's a profound exploration of the multifaceted nature of loss and transformation.

As I share this final poetic mixtape, I reflect on our journey together. I'm filled with gratitude for your support over the last nearly 10 years. We’ve found strength in each other's stories.

Pre-order your copy today because pre-orders are SO IMPORTANT to a book’s overall success, and I’d like to close this chapter of my life on a HIGH NOTE 😊 More soon, Alicia

NEW POEM: Missed Calls and Heroin

This week I released a longform poem of mine called "Missed Calls and Heroin."

https://medium.com/@the_alicia_cook/m...

I have only read this poem once in front of a crowd and it has never been published anywhere. Until now!

I have decided to publish this poem on Medium, alongside the addiction essays I have been re-publishing.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this poem! I wish you all a lovely rest of your week!

It's time for the Goodreads Choice Awards again...

I know my book, Sorry I Haven't Texted You Back just came out this month...

BUT

If you read it, and liked it, I humbly ask that you use the "write in" field to vote for it in the 2020 Goodreads Choice Awards (Poetry).

Lesser known books like mine don't have a shot unless they are written in.

Let's give this book a chance!!

I am *GIVING AWAY* 1,000 e-books

Until April 12, you can instantly download my second poetry collection (e-book only) for FREE. The limit is 1,000 - so get yours today.

It's hard to know what to say. It's hard to know what to do. I want to help where I can and I know we are leaning heavily on the arts (books, music, television) lately. I am thankful to Andrews McMeel Publishing for putting this together and providing me the opportunity to make this small gesture to readers. I hope this helps pass some time during quarantine.

This is a tough, scary time for all of us on many levels. I am aware it could be taking a devastating toll on our mental and physical well-being. Right now, many of us are isolated and feeling the effects of social distancing. The most important thing we can all do is reach out to one another. I wish you all health and hope as the days progress. - Alicia

Say Goodbye to One of My Books...

Come January 1, 2020, Anomaly: A Concept Album will no longer be available to purchase!

Last year I published a small, fun collection of poetry and song. I called it "Anomaly" and even playfully spelled my name wrong on the coffee cup that is on the cover (an ode to coffee shops spelling my name wrong constantly).

This book was a season for me. Something fun to produce while I figured out my next move. So, in the true fashion of a season, this book will now transition away from online retailers come January 1. Now, SOME of the poetry within its pages may very well return in one form or another - but Anomaly as it exists right now will never be heard from again once the new year begins.

From now until December 31, you can still buy Anomaly: A Concept Album for just $5.99 online.

AWARD WINNING!

Amazing news! Page 74 in I Hope My Voice Doesn't Skip is now an award-winning song! "Too" was just selected by the American Songwriting Awards. Special thanks goes out to Caitlin Mahoney, who composed such beautiful music around these words.
