The debut of my historical novel
Dear Readers:
It took me five years to give birth to my novel: THE CORSET MAKER and now I put it in your capable hands. As you must know, nearly all books have beta readers. Some people like a given book, others don't, but no matter their content, reader reviews are always appreciated by the author. A written review is a gift. It is a sign of the respect and time a reader has given an author.
I was lucky to have advance readers in many countries around the world. I'd like to share with you one of them in this post.
"The Corset Maker begins in the fall of 1930. Nationalism is surfacing as Europe teeters. In Warsaw Poland 12-year-old Rifka Berg asks her beloved Ultra-Orthodox father why girls don’t have bar mitzvas. His answer brings about an epiphany that changes the course of her life. Thus begins Rifka’s life’s journey: continents will be crossed, wars will be won, and others lost, there will be love and there will be unspeakable genocide. Even Rifka’s name and identity must change for her to survive, but Rifka’s search for the truth of experience, for the very meaning of life and her place in it will never wane.
Timely and more relevant to today than is comfortable. This is the journey of the hero in the truest sense of Joseph Campbell."

New Review by a spiritual leader
For my spiritual readers, here is a review of Erythra Thalassa: Brain Disrupted, by Rabbi Joseph Polak, Chief Justice, Massachusetts Rabinical Court:
"...The meters, the language, the restraint that comes from the discipline of a masterful, highly accessible poet, frame, and somehow limit, the unbearable helplessness of a mother whose adult son suffered a devastating stroke.
Poet and reader together arrive at a sense of –if not quite solace— a heightened capacity to live without compromise, by which I mean without ever allowing the terrible questions to lose their intensity."
I invite you to read it and send your comments to my author website: annetteberkovits.com

Thanksgiving
Two days from now, many of us will sit to a festive dinner perhaps alone, perhaps with a significant other, or maybe even a child or two. Dear friends and loved ones who are always on our guest lists will be missing at our tables. I know many will feel as if this year doesn't have much to be thankful for, but there is ALWAYS something for which to give thanks, even if it is the color of the sky.
If you are wondering how to muster a list of things to be thankful for, please read my slim poetry volume, ErythraThalassa: Brain Disrupted. You'll see there are so many micro-moments in our lives that we fail to notice until they are lost to us.
Wishing you a safe and healthy THANKSGIVING.
I am thankful for many things, you my readers, among them.

A song in a book of poetry?
Dear readers:
My book of poetry, released just last week, contains a beautiful song, "The Time I Spend with You." The lyrics to this song were written by my son—subject of the book— in collaboration with me and an outstanding composer, Ken Hatfield. To listen to the song check out the Erythra Thalassa: Brain Disrupted page on
annetteberkovits.com
Should you decide to read this slim volume, a memoir in poetry form, you'll understand why the creation of the song is such a triumph.
