Abdul Aziz Suraqah was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. As a teenager, he began his study of the Arabic language, and pursued further studies in Yemen, Mauritania, and Morocco with a focus on theology, legal theory, Arabic grammar, rhetoric, and literature. Since 1998, he has been teaching Arabic and Islamic studies. In 2005, Abdul Aziz began translating texts from Arabic to English full time, to date completing over fifty works, both published and unpublished. He continues to teach Arabic and Islamic studies at Dar al-Ma’rifah and Risalah Foundation in Toronto, Canada, where he lives with his wife and three daughters.
