Updates

Hello All,

Long time, no see, and I definitely mean that’s it has been a long time. Who’s fault is that? Oh, right, it’s mine. Therefore, I would like to apologize for that. I hope to be updating all my wonderful readers more often.

Anyway, to the heart of the matter, I am working on a few smaller projects right now. I don’t have any big series or novels planned, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t publish a compilation of my smaller projects. I’ll be sure to announce more on this when I can. Until then, I will be getting on the next music playlist.

Have an excellent day,

EA

Music Playlist- Round 1

So, I’m going to do this new thing where I talk about the inspirations for SITW.This week I’m going to explain the music on my writing playlist (read morehere). My first choice of song to explain in relation to the book is “Daniel in the Den” by Bastille.

These are the lyrics:

Moving along at a pace unknown to man

Go go go go go go

Go go go go go
And you thought the lions were bad

Well they tried to kill my brothers

And for every king that died

Oh they would crown another

And it’s harder than you think

Telling dreams from one another

And you thought the lions were bad

Well they tried to kill my brothers
And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you

And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you
Dreaming along at a pace you’ll understand

Go go go go go go

No no no no no
And you thought the lions were bad

Well they tried to kill my brothers

And for every king that died

Oh they would crown another

And it’s harder than you think

Telling dreams from one another

And you thought the lions were bad

Well they tried to kill my brothers
And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you

And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you
Oh, to see what it means to be free

Of the shackles and the dreams

That you claim to see
And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you

And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you
Oh
And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you
And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love

They will come for you
And felled in the night

By the ones you think you love.

Felled in the night

By the ones you think you love.

Felled in the night

By the ones you think you love, love.

This song is special to me and the book because many of the characters fight against the evil that seems to be unstoppable.

SPOILER ALERTS BELOW- READ MORE AT YOUR OWN RISK

To me, this song was the story of Bram and Lyam. Lyam was a “bad” “lion,” but really Lyam wasn’t as evil or heinous as Bram. According to Bram, he felt betrayed by Gabriella as highlighted by the lyrics, “And felled in the night, By the ones you think you love.” Bram would have given anything to be with Gabriella, but she ripped his chances away when she chose the resistance. In that moment, Gabriella could see “what it means to be free of the shackles and the dreams that [she claimed] to see.” Bram took his place beside Lyam and protected the leader of NHT. When Lyam, the “king,” died, NHT “crowned another,” which in this case was Bram. Lines blur between love and the love of power. Eventually Gabriella chose to love freedom more, and Lyam and Bram chose to love power more. This clash can be highlighted throughout this song.

Also, the singing and music of the song is cool enough in itself, even without the meaningful lyrics.I hope you enjoyed this post, feedback is appreciated. Have a fantastic week!

Music

So fun fact about me- I’m a huge fan of music. I play 5 instruments. I listen to alternative music like it is my life (which in a way, it kind of is). Anyways,a few years ago Icreated a playlist for Something in the Water. I want to share the music that I looped constantly while writing because it helped me get the right “mood” for the novel.

Mood is something that is difficult to focus on while writing for me. I have a hard time writing after a long day where my daily stresses are on my mind. Therefore, music is a way that I was able to completely focus on the fictional world. I zone-out to it, and songs affect me more than I can describe. I have a tendency to get goosebumps and emotional when listening to music because every song causes memories to come rushing into my mind. Memories of good times and bad, but they are still memories that deeply affect me.

Without further ado, here is some of the songs (like there is 50 on this playlist, so I selected just a few… for now) off of my Something in the Waterplaylist (yes, I know there is a lot of Imagine Dragons, but they are my favorite band):

“The Great Escape” by P!nk
“Oh, What a Life” by American Authors
“Kill Your Heroes” by AWOLNATION
“Daniel in the Den” by Bastille
“People Help the People” by Birdy
“Warriors” by Imagine Dragons
“I Bet My Life” by Imagine Dragons
“America” by Imagine Dragons
“Talk” by Kodaline
“Shattered (Turn the Car Around)” by O.A.R.
“Escape” by KONGOS
“All This Time” by OneRepublic
“Be OK” by Ingrid Michaelson

So, here are some of the songs I listen towhen I wroteSITW.In the coming weeks, I will do a write-up on each song and why it influenced the book.

Until next time,

E.A.

Updates

Hey everyone! I know what you are thinking… I haven’t updated this or my social media accounts for quite a while. I know… I’m sorry, but life gets in the way as we all know. What have you missed? Not too much except for a few book related updates.

As of this moment in time, I have made a major decision. It was not one that I take lightly, and please remember that nothing is set in stone; it canall change. Anyways, for the moment,Something in the Water will be a stand-alone book. I originally planned to have it be a three part series, but, for now, there will be no series. If I change my mind in the future, I want each book of the series to be fantastic and purposeful.

I cannot give a fantastic and purposeful meaning to the rest of theseries at this point. Therefore, in order to dothe series justice, in order to do myself justice, and most importantly, in order to do you, the reader, justice, there will be no sequel toSITW. I express my deepest sympathies to you because I understand what it is like to want the story to continue. As I stated before, this is not set in stone, but it is my status right now. If it makes you feel better, maybe think of this as a hiatus to the series instead of an end.

Anyways, now that the serious matter has been addressed, I would like to announce that I will be writing a new book. I believe (but I may be bias towards my own writings) that you will really enjoy the premise and direction to this new book. Details will be coming, so please hold on.

Feel free to contact me about anything post or non-post related,

-Eli Addis

Feelings

I have invested so much time to be able to bring SITW into this world. I’ve waited for today for the last 3 years. The novel was my life, and I’m ecstatic to be able to share it with everyone. I don’t know who many of you are (but you can always chat with me through social media). I’ve sold my first books today, and I couldn’t be happier.

There’s a time in your life when you realize how truly blessed you are. Today was it. It has become the best day of my life (the American Authors’ song highlights it well). The feeling was indescribable. It was relief, joy, happiness, nerves, euphoria and so much more. I wrote all my thoughts and emotions in that novel, and somewhere in this world someone will take the time to read them. I couldn’t ask for more.

My acknowledgement page shares with you the people that played behind the scenes support, and they deserve so much gratitude. I did forget someone on that page, and that was you, my reader. You are the reason I published. It’s so that you can share your opinions on my words. Therefore, we create this elaborate system known as communication and discussion. It makes the world go around.

So, today has been the best day of my life. The future is calling.

Until next time,

Eli Addis

T-minus One Week

Hello all,

I don’t know about you, but I am elated and jumping through the roof with publication being one week away. To have the world experience who I am in a story blows my mind.

I can’t begin to wrap my head around the fact that anyone can see my views, feelings, and story. I am so excited to have you as my reader be able to enjoy it, or hate it– I guess that’s up to you ;).

One week and counting. Here comes Something in the Water.
