Reflecting on 2017, Goals for 2018

Okay, let’s get started.

Reflecting on 2017

The year started off strong. I was still at my old day job – teaching English to first graders in Yangzhou, China, my wife and I, with help from her parents, bought an apartment near Shanghai, and dictation became a part of my writing process, which kickstarted the 100k Writing Challenge.

This was...

What is LitRPG? (Or GameLit)

What is LitRPG - GameLit

The creative circle of life.

Novels –> Movies –> Video Games –> Novels

LitRPG

LitRPG/GameLit is a fairly new genre for most Westerners, although it has been around for a long time in Russia, and includes both science fiction and fantasy with RPG elements. For those who don’t know lit stands for literature and RPG stands for role-playing game – like Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, Fallout and others. The roots of the genre are based in Russia where gamers began writing stories and pos...

Moon, so if you’re not interested in stuff outside of zombie apocalypse, dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction you won’t be bombarded by it.

If you are interested, then I’m excited to announce that I am launching Fall o...

Writing Quotes #3

Writing Quote 3

“To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.” – Joseph Chilton Pierce

This photo is from the beautiful Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. There are tons of birds and other animals for you to enjoy. Walk among the trees and ponds and see if you can spot fiddler crabs among the reeds. See more of my Bombay Hook pictures here.

Writing Quotes #1

Start Writing - Writing Quotes

I really love writing quotes. This is the first in a series of quote photos that I plan to post.
