I'm 36, married to my high school sweet heart, and I have four kids. Writing is my passion and, as an author, I get to achieve my dreams every day. My life kinda rocks the socks :)

I first realized my passion for writing at the age of 14, when I set out to write my first book. I wrote the entire thing by hand (hand cramps galore!) and finished it at 16. Once it was typed up, the cover hand illustrated by yours truly, I sent it out to several different publishers with high hopes. I was more than a little crest fallen when I received replies that turned me down, or no replies at all. Somehow no one wanted to take a chance on an inexperienced teen aged writer...go figure. ;) But I didn't give up.

It wasn't until I lost the vast number of 'manusc

It's really not something I can rush, personally. If I rush it, the gates lock down and it takes even longer to get out of my writers funk. I find the best time to work out my writers block is at the gym in the AM. I put some music on (whatever I feel like might fight the stubborn scene at hand best), pop in the ear buds, and go for a run. It may not work right away, but it helps me to clear my mind and set the mood to get the creative juices flowing. :)(less)

“So, you play Batman at night, and fix-it man during the day?" His nose wrinkled in a way that was entirely too adorable for his tough guy demeanor. She didn't say a word about it though, knowing he'd never do it again if she pointed it out.

"Batman? Batman's a pathetic jelly donut. He's a little Richie Rich that prances 'round in fancy tights and dress up panties, too much of a wuss to do anythin' without a mask and a prepubescent scarecrow as a sidekick.”
Amy Cook, Edge of Instinct

“Whatever the hell was going on with this guy, he reminded Harley of a rat. Harley hated rats. It made him want to whack the dude in the face with a bat.”

“Holy Goshness! She gasped mentally, quickly averting her eyes.

For Being such a private and antisocial guy in normal everyday life, zonked out Harley sure didn't have a problem with wandering around in the buff.”

“What are you, the boogey man?"

Strike three- her joke sucked. His eyes darkened, and he moved so close his shaggy bangs tickled her brow. She swallowed hard, staring up into his dangerously arctic eyes, drowning in the darkness reflected behind them.

"Yeah. Somethin' like that.”
Amy Cook, Edge of Instinct

“Maybe you should finally give the girl Pop's number, and I don't know, be her friend."

"Just like that."

"It's friendship, Harley, not rocket science.”
Amy Cook, Edge of Instinct

“Don't they teach y'all anythin' in school these days?"

She frowned. Apparently they needed to improve the current How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse 101 courses.”
