EXCERPT
It’s a hot summer’s night. The sky is clear, the moon full. We sit out on the patio and eat takeout from Craig’s Crawdad Cookout in town.

“So, are you going to bring it up or me?” I ask, taking a swig from my beer bottle.

I watch Bronte’s throat work as she swallows. She’s wondering if she should run from the question or run toward it.

She decides to go with the former and run from it while picking up a beer bottle. “What are you talking about?”

“Gigantor, the white elephant in the room.”

She smiles awkwardly. “Oh, you mean the kiss.”

I hate how my body reacts when she says it.

“Yeah, the kiss.”

“I already apologized.”

“That’s not what I meant.”

She shrugs. “We were drunk.”

“Yes, we were. Fall-down drunk if memory serves.”

“And I wanted to feel something other than grief. You were my first crush.” She smiles, embarrassed. “And you were there.”

“I remember.”

Boy, do I remember.

The way she pressed her body against me and kissed me. The way her luscious tongue swept into my mouth, and then the sweetness of her lips as they moved so sensually over mine.

Taken by surprise, I’d hesitated, but then lust and alcohol collided in my brain, and I’d taken that kiss from hot to blazing, pushing my hands through her hair and kissing her hard. I’d groaned into her hungry little mouth, wanting to take it further before I had the good sense to stop myself.

Behind my zipper, my dick stirs in appreciation of the memory.

But nope.

Not fucking going there.

I’m not entertaining that idea for one second longer, just like I haven’t since that night.

“You disappeared before we had a chance to talk,” I remind her.

When I’d broken off the kiss with a determined “no,” and she’d run out of the room.

The next day she was gone.

“I was embarrassed,” she says.

“You had no reason to be. We were both hurting. Sometimes people do things out of character when they’re hurting.” I give her a reassuring smile. “You have no reason to be embarrassed around me, wildflower. One little kiss between friends in a moment of insanity shouldn’t be enough to destroy a friendship.”

Our eyes linger.

It wasn’t one little kiss between friends, and we both know it.

JACK releases May 28, 2021.

My ARC Team

Hey everyone,
I'm looking for people to join my ARC team.

The ARCs for the first two books in the Kings of Mayhem series (due for release in January and February 2019) will be sent out late December and early January.

The Kings of Mayhem series is a set of MC romances featuring strong, sexy bikers and their strong, sassy women.

While the sex is hot and often explicit, the violence is kept to a minimum, with a focus on the romance between the two lead characters. Although, there are some pretty interesting secondary characters. And OMG, there are moments you just wont see coming and they will truly sit you on your ass!!

If you would be interested in joining my ARC team and receiving an ARC in exchange for an honest review on Amazon and Goodreads, please email me at authorpennydee@hotmail.com, noting ARC Team in the title. Alternatively, you can visit my website www.pennydeebooks.com and complete the ARC sign up form.

2019 is going to be busy with lots of releases. Don't miss out on receiving an ARC!!!

Crazy Wonderful Excerpt

Jessica and her posse made their way right for me. I looked away and busied myself with tidying up my food tray. I didn’t bother looking up even when they reached my side and Jessica’s shadow fell on me.

“I hear that you think you know the guys in Vengeance.” Her voice was accusatory. “Or so I hear.”

When I looked up, she was glaring at me. She folded her arms across her chest.

“So?” I really couldn’t be bothered with her but I knew there was no escaping this encounter. Jessica liked drama, and right now I was her drama. And while I couldn’t avoid it I could at least avoid participating in it.

“I just think its really sad that you’d go around claiming to be the girlfriend of possibly the hottest guy in town.”

I sighed. I didn’t feel the need or the want to defend myself to this girl. Because once you started you kind of had to keep going. So I simply fixed my eyes to hers and said, “I’m not claiming anything.”

“You did too,” said Tiffany—the taller of the two bimbos flanking Jessica. “You said he was your boyfriend.”

“Actually, I didn’t.” I corrected her. “Carrie did. Because I don’t think its any of your damn business so I wouldn’t waste my breath talking to you about it.”

Heavily made-up eyes filled with spite. “Well, are you or aren’t you?”

I stood up and collected my tray. “Like I said, its none of your damn business.”

When I went to move Jessica stepped in my way.

“I know Heath,” she said, and as she did she smirked and one eyebrow went up in a lascivious move as if she hid some dirty little secret about knowing Heath. She probably did know him. Hell, he could’ve fucked her for all I knew. But not since me. Definitely, not since me.

I know I said I was going to try to avoid participating in this encounter but now she had pissed me off just enough for me to want to make her shut her mouth.

“See, isn’t it funny that you claim to know Heath.” I said, and again I found her eyes and held them. “Yet, I’ve never seen you with him.”

“Oh, I’ve been with him.” Heavily made-up eyes filled with spite.

“I’m sure you have been.” I looked at her like I could care less, and then added, “but not in the last nine months.”

“How do you know that?” She asked darkly.

"Because he's been with me." I leaned in. "And only me."

I didn't know why I was engaging with her.

Again, she stepped directly in front of me. “Then prove it. Show me a picture of you two together.”

I thought of the images on my phone. Of Heath and I lying in bed the day he left. The selfie he had taken so every time he rang my phone his face would light up the screen. The pictures we’d taken at the beach the week before he’d left. The torso shot he’d taken for my own enjoyment in his absence. The one of his bare chest. His abs. His cock.

Yeah, Jessica wasn’t getting any of those.

“I’m not showing you anything.” I said, refusing to prove anything. I wasn’t about to let some two-faced mean girl bully me into validating my relationship.

I picked up my bag and threw it over my shoulder.

The sooner I got away from this insanity the better.

“Well, how about I show you a picture.” She did something to her phone and then turned it around to show me the screen. “Doesn’t look like a guy who has a girlfriend waiting for him at home now does it?” Her smirk was pure meanness. But I only caught a glimpse of it before the image on her phone had my complete attention. It was of Heath. With a stunning girl wrapped around him. And when I say stunning, I mean this girl was a volcanic hottie.

Panic tore through me.

Fuck.

Despite the jealousy stabbing at my stomach I shrugged as if I could care less. “Looks like Heath and one of his fans.”

Jessica’s smirk was vicious. “Oh honey, that’s not one of his fans. That’s my girlfriend, Mercedes. She’s a model who likes to play with rockstars. Oh, and she’s also the girl Heath fucked last night.” She wiggled her fingers in a wave goodbye. “Have a nice afternoon.”

I watched as she turned and sauntered out of the cafeteria, her two minions falling into step at her side. Heat burned on my cheeks but it was nothing like the fear tingling in my stomach.

I picked up my books and fled the cafeteria, pushing opening the glass doors and running straight into Grayson.

“Whoa!” He joked, grabbing me on the arms to steady the both of us. Then seeing my face asked, “Are you okay?”

The kindness in his handsome face made me want to cry. And I knew if I tried to speak I would probably burst into tears so I looked away as I nodded.

But Grayson was having nothing of it.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” He took me by the shoulders and gave me a little shake so I was forced to look at him. “What’s with the tears?”

“I’m fine. I’m just…” I stopped. What was I? Tired? Fatigued? Stressed over exams? Over my boyfriend being thousands of miles away? All of the above?

I looked up, resigned that no matter what I said or did, my current circumstances sucked. I sighed. “Want to go get something to drink?”

A big beaming smile crossed his boyish face. “I couldn’t think of anything better.”

Unpublished & A Big Apology

Today I pulled Crazy Beautiful from Amazon. I wrote CB two years ago, back when I knew nothing about indie publishing. I wrote a book (because I loved to write) and then hit the publish button.

Like I said, I knew nothing. Hell, I didn't know if anyone would even read it. And then something beautiful happened, people did read it and a whole new, exciting, beautiful world opened up to me: the community of indie writing. And I love it!

Then another set of characters walked into my world and I wrote Beautiful Dangerous. At the time I knew I should be working on the second book of the Crazy Beautiful series, but the characters of Beautiful Dangerous were pretty demanding and 6 months later I released my second book. When characters and plotlines reveal themselves to you, you kind of have to take notice . . . because like I said, they are pretty insistent.

Then I hit 12 months full of personal shit. I’m not going to go into it because I don't even know how to put it all into words. But please trust me when I say, it was a really hard time for me and as a result I stopped writing. I tried to maintain some kind of presence on social media, and I tried to work on Crazy Wonderful, but damn, I was having a really hard time and living in a fog. My focus was on putting one foot in front of the other and getting through each day.

As a result, Crazy Wonderful was put on the back burner. And when I was feeling better, I didn’t go back to it, instead I started on a story that had slowly formed overtime during my sabbatical. Because this story was about someone who felt broken and emotionally spent, and who was trying to put one foot in front of the other. The ironic part—it is a romantic comedy.

Now I am back, finishing up my third book and feeling hopeful. Actually, I feel better than just hopeful . . . I feel stronger having gone through the rockiest time of my life.

But Crazy Wonderful remains unfinished. And because it is a part of a series, I feel I should remove Crazy Beautiful from Amazon until CW is ready to release. I have disappointed a lot of people by not releasing it, and for this, I am very, very sorry. It was never my intention to keep people waiting. Again, I apologize. But I am human and life happens.

So to avoid upsetting further people, Crazy Beautiful will remain unpublished until Crazy Wonderful is ready. I also don’t want to write a book because I am feeling pressured. I want to hit the publish button on something I enjoyed writing—something I loved creating—not something I was forced to finish.

I love the indie world. I love writing. And I love, love, love my readers. I thank everyone of you for your love and support. You guys rock!

So I am getting back to basics. I am writing what I want to write, when I want to write and because I want to write. And that feels pretty damn good!

Lots of love,
Penny xx

Crazy Wonderful

Proof that this book is happening!

Check out this little unedited tidbit:

CHAPTER ONE
Harlow was pissed
.
Just like I knew she would be.

Green eyes flared at me. Bright with anger.

Goddamn she was beautiful. Was it wrong to feel so turned on?

I tried to placate her. “Baby—”

“Don’t you fucking baby me, asshole.” Another item flew through the air towards me. Narrowly missing my head before it joined the broken jewellery box on the floor. “I can’t believe you would even consider it. After everything we have been through!”

My girl was angry at me. But it was completely understandable. I’d just told her about the tour and at first she was excited—so excited that she’d leapt into my arms and laughed as I’d swung her around.

Then I’d told her about Mia and things pretty much went south from there.

“She broke us up. And now you want to go on tour with her?” She stomped over to me and shoved a pointed finger in my chest. “And you thought I’d be okay with that?”

I cupped her shoulders and looked her in the eye. “I have no control over her being there. She works for the promoters, Harlow.” I sighed. “Plus, she didn’t break us up. I did. I fucked up but we’ve worked through that.”

She scoffed. “So I’m just supposed to accept that my boyfriend is going on a nationwide tour with the skank he fucked behind my back?”

Harlow didn’t usually swear.

Until she was pissed. Then she was like a freakin’ trucker.

“Fuck you, Heath.” She pulled away from me and grabbed her handbag from the table, throwing the strap over her shoulder. “I’m going out.”

“Baby, please—”

She grabbed a small notebook from the table and threw at me. “I said, don’t call me baby!”

And with that she stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
