Preethi Venugopala is a Civil Engineer by profession and an avid writer, blogger, artist by passion.
She always liked stories. When alone, she would create stories in her mind but never thought about penning them down until a break from her regular job as a Civil Engineer prompted her to take up blogging.
Flash fictions written for various prompts, and winning story writing competitions led to publications of short stories in various anthologies. Several of her short stories are published on Juggernaut books platform.

She debuted as a novelist with 'Without You', which became the #1 bestseller in its category on Amazon.1 many times since its release. She has added 9 more bestsellers to her kitty. Á Royal Affair', 'His Sunshine Girl', 'The

The Girl from the Hills: An Excerpt

July 23, Wayanad, 2019

One month. One month to relive old memories and make new ones.

When Ammamma, our dear grandmother had asked if we could plan for a month-long get-together for the Sreepuram family, it hadn’t seemed like something we could pull off.

Our gang of cousins shared a strong bond right from childhood thanks to the many summer holidays we had spent together at Sreepura

“An inch long scar on my left wrist, reminded me of an enchanted world of love, which had vanished like a mirage.”
Preethi Venugopala, Without You

“The monsoons had cooled down the temperature and a thick blanket, folded into a perfect rectangle, lay at the foot of my bed. Grandma must have come to inspect the settings a hundred times, being a perfectionist. Her love was evident in every little thing that was present in the house. It was soothing to be back in the house. Something unwounded from within, the moment I entered it.”
Preethi Venugopala

“I relived those memories repeatedly until I could breathe in his presence all around. The thought that I had lost him forever was a constant dull pain. May be poets had it right. Love was pain in disguise. I revered it, as there was pleasure in that pain.”

“Sonnet XVII

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way than this:

where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep. ”
Pablo Neruda

“Nobody deserves your tears, but whoever deserves them will not make you cry.”
Gabriel García Márquez
