Isn't it Romantic? Meeting My New LPA Agent Tish Beaty at RT14
I've known Tish Beaty for a while. She wrote an essay for me in my 50 Writers on 50 Shades of Grey anthology for Ben Bella (http://www.amazon.com/Fifty-Writers-S...) because she was the acquiring editor at Coffeehouse Press for EL James' mega-selling trilogy. She wrote a short story for the Riverdale Avenue Books' We Love NY anthology (http://www.amazon.com/LOVE-New-York-A... ) and I know she's working on her own erotic fiction.
At the beginning of the year she decided she wanted to try life on the agent side of the fence, and I knew she had the eye to find great talent, so I was thrilled to have her work with me as our new erotica and erotic romance agent, who is also taking on some YA and new adult, as well as some nonfiction. And only a few months later, she already has a few sales under her belt, which is awesome.
She lives in the mid-west, so we do all our work via email and over the phone. While you can certainly get a feel for someone's personality over the phone, there's nothing like meeting in the flesh.
The Romantic Times convention in New Orleans was our first face to face, and we hit it off like crazy. She has such a passion for dirty books, and so do I! It is a joy to listen to her tell me about the amazing authors she met here, and how excited she is to take them on. I always feel the same way when I come to RT. It is my favorite convention. I just love the empowerment of my fellow women writers.
What a joy it is to work with a kindred spirit!

Welcome New LPA Agent, Ben Grange
The L. Perkins Agency is thrilled to announce that Ben Grange, formerly the assistant at the JABerwocky Literary Agency, has joined the Agency where he will be representing authors of both fiction and some nonfiction.
Before joining the L. Perkins Agency, Grange had a varied publishing experience. He was a publishing intern at a small publisher in Salt Lake City, Utah, and then completed internships at three literary agencies before his most recent position as the assistant at JABberwocky.
At the L. Perkins Agency, he will be representing middle grade fiction of all types, and is particularly on the lookout for exceptional author-illustrators who write middle grade or young adult. Grange has a penchant for young adult science fiction and fantasy, particularly weird or slightly dark stories (à la The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater). He loves epic fantasy and science fiction, and although his focus is on middle grade and young adult, he won't say no to a great fantasy or sci-fi. He is also interested in pop culture nonfiction for authors with established platforms.
“I'm thrilled to take this next step in my journey as an agent, and can't wait to roll up my sleeves and get to work. There are big things happening in children's fiction right now, and I'm glad I get to be a part of it."
Said Agency founder and President, Lori Perkins, “We are excited to have Ben join the team, as his interests compliment those of the existing six agents. This is going to be wonderful expansion of the agency’s place in the publishing industry.”
About the Agency
Founded in 1987 by Lori Perkins, a former newspaper publisher and editor, the L. Perkins Agency specializes in many different genres with seven agents representing approximately 100 authors to the publishing industry. The agency also has agents in many foreign territories and works with an established film/television agency to maximize exposure for our clients. The L. Perkins Agency’s seven acquiring agents have a diverse range of tastes and are currently looking for material in a wide spectrum of genres and subjects. Lperkinsagency.com

I am thrilled to have published Ethan Mordden’s Passionate Attention of an Interesting Man. Ethan’s story collections Buddies and Everybody Loves You were books I read while coming out, their distinctive Stonewall Inn Editions logo on the spine announcing “gay fiction!” to anyone in the know.
Passionate Attention is a clever, fun, sexy read featuring a brand new novella and four stories. While not quite erotica, it’s still hot!—or as Ethan describes it, “Every one of the stories deals with the relationship of a dominant and submissive male, the daddy and his ‘boy,’ the top man and the vassal.”
In one of my favorite passages, a character says, “Jutter Flexx was not a porn star. He had done some modeling for Colt, and he did become one of their most exploited figures, with his own calendar. In the gay world, this is like being elected President of France.” How can I not love a brilliant line like that?
