Tuesday Talk with Donna Michaels

Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hello, my name is Donna Michaels, and I’d like to thank Sable for having me here today. ♥ For those who don’t know me, I’m a hybrid author who loves writing cowboys and military heroes, and if I can combine the two, I often do. My romances are Hot, Humorous, and Heartwarming, and although I love writing several genres, my most popular are contemporary romance, romantic comedy, and romantic suspense that I publish as an Indie author, or through Entangled and The Wild Rose Press.
How long have you been a published writer?
I sold my first book “Thanks for Giving” to The Wild Rose Press back in 2006. Wow, time sure does fly.
How long does it take you to write a book?
It takes me anywhere from 10 to 30 days to write a book. It all depends on the length, and if the dang characters are talking. Lol
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
My most interesting writing quirk isn’t actually one I’m thrilled about. I seem to write best under pressure of a looming deadline. Yeah, not fun. lol
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
The most surprising thing I’ve learned creating books is that my characters have a mind of their own. Just because I visualize the book going one way, does not mean it ends up there. It’s always an adventure getting to “The End”. And I love that!
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
Sunrise Purple, because it’s my favorite part of the day (if I’m awake), and the sky is usually full of beautiful color and the day is full of promise.
We finish the interview and you step outside and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?
If I won $10 million in the lottery, you’d hear my ‘woot’ across the world! I’d pay off my college debt for each of my kids, and their college debt as well. Get my parents set up in a comfortable place, then I’d help my family and friends, before buying a 3 bedroom home in Nevada…then I’d donate to several veteran charities, and animal charities. And if there’s anything left, I may go out for a nice prime rib dinner at Outback.
