Same here! Spike/Xander in the Buffy fandom back in 2003 and I was all, wow, what is this ::grabby hands::
My daughter was heavily into the BSC bks but I've not seen the anime/manga; will let her know.
Currently, no fandom I want to write for. Enjoying the new season Trollhunters. I miss having a fandom but Neopets is kind of it which isn't so conducive to writing.

I should have used the Japanese name (edited comment). It's about a teenager and his toddler brother whom he cares for--their parents die and he is sent to live with an older lady who runs an elite school. He has to run the before and after school daycare for the teachers. There's something about the siblings-caring-for-siblings theme that gets me every time.
Anyway, it's absolutely adorable, and has an extremely slash-able couple: the shy and sincere teen and another teen who helps out, who is very cross. Lol. Your daughter may like it too. But she'll be busy at uni! (Gasp, sorry, don't cry! Your babies are flying away! But they'll always love mamma.)
I've never heard of Trollhunters; I'll check it out.
OHHHH! Lol. Okay. Trollhunters is really good. It's on Netflix and it's very engaging; young boy picks up amulet, becomes hunter of bad trolls in town, protector of good ones with his friends to help. Sounds cliched but it's got our whole family loving it. The animation is great.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hi! I'm sorry things aren't going so well for you right now, but I honestly think you're a bit of a powerhouse in regards to writing (I don't know how you write so much, so quickly!) and you always have been. I'm just as impressed as I've always been.
If you're feeling burnt out, I definitely suggest taking a break. There's nothing wrong with just taking some time to recuperate and recharge -- even if that just means getting to spend a little more time with your kids before they go off to Uni.
If you're up for reading any new books (I know what it's like to be without a main fandom for motivation), I highly suggest anything by Nnedi Okorafor -- particularly her Akata Witch (Nigerian Harry Potter) or Binti (Sci-Fi, but heavy with African Himba culture) series. They're amazing and very diverse/progressive. ♥
Or, hell, maybe you might be interested in giving some video games a try -- if you're not sure you'll be good at any of them, there are some really immersive games that are very narratively driven (with character development!) that don't require much in regards to gameplay.
Anyway, I'd love to get back into touch after so many years. : P Please feel free to hit me up.
I certainly do remember you! How lovely to hear from you again and thank you for the encouragement and book recs. I have a couple of ideas I'm mulling over for a total change of genre so I'll see how that goes. Maybe with no pressure and deadlines I'll get back into the swing of things again.
My fandoms have always been TV/movie related but with LJ/DW not part of my life these days (sad about drifting away) it's harder to get involved and I'm not watching much TV anyway. Neopets eats up hours of my day; that site is so addictive, lol.

Aaaaa, I was really into Neopets when it first came out, but when I tried to get back into it a few years ago, the site was too slow and I found it frustrating. Pffft, probably isn't that bad, actually, but it's the age of the internet and I'm impatient. : P
I'm mostly reading books or playing games, nowadays, but I think that's mostly because I don't have any main fandoms right now. My last one was Homestuck and that ate up about 3 years of my life. It was good though. Like you, I don't linger much in regards to TV or movies, I have a hard time sitting down for that long and keeping my attention though.

Sounds intriguing! Just arrived home from work, pouring myself a glass of wine and investigating--thanks!
Are your Spike/Xander fics still readable? I think I've read/bought all your (enjoyable!) novels. *must check backlist*

All my fic pretty much is on AO3, but the earlier ones, well, I can do better now, heh. If you're in the mood for epic kinky het, try Secretary which I co-wrote with three friends over 8 months, Faith/Wes.

I have a YA about fairy godmothers and another about ordinary people and superheroes noodling in my head. Who knows if they'll see the light of day but I'm kind of written out of m/m atm. As you say, it's difficult to get a new take on it.
If you ever try Neo again, I'm jaydeed :-)
