Imagine my delight, in recent historical research, to find evidence for a real life Scarlet Pimpernel. A shadowy figure who left flower 'tokens' so those hoping to escape revolutionary France might recognise him.

Even more wonderful (to me at least) was the record of a female version of this dashing figure, known simply as L'Incroyable. (The Incredible).

Naturally I was desperate to represent his real-life super hero in fiction, which is why I've started a new series - The Revolution Spy series - with a female Scarlet Pimpernel at its heart.
