Live By The Rules!
Hi Friends,
I have been going through some English grammar resources of late to brush up on one of my least favorite subjects during grade-school, but now valued as a writer. Here are just a few common rules noted:
There is a difference between part and apart. Sample, I'll tear this apart. I have a part in the play.
You cannot always end sentences with a preposition: What did you step on? On is the preposition. Where are you is as meaningful as, Where are you at?
There are twenty-three helping verbs that are used often.
- is, am, are, was, were
- be, being, been
- has, have, had
- do, does, did
- shall, will, could, should
- may, might, must, can could
For those who observe a faith practice, perhaps the King of the Universe gave us the greatest rule some of us are learning to live:
Love the Lord God with all your mind, all your strength, with all your soul (animal instincts) and your neighbor as yourself.
In Brief
- Thanks to you who take the time to like my blog. Big thanks to Patty Fletcher for so doing!
- I have two stories that will be part of New Authors Journal, summer edition. I will inform when available.
- My autobiography titled, Homecoming: A Memoir" by David C. Russell
is available online and can be ordered at some Kobo or Barnes and Noble Stores by walk-in patrons. You need to order the book from those stores if in their catalog.
Until next visit, happy journey and happy page turning!

On The Journey is a spin-off from my nine-year-old blog titled, Grafted In And NOn The Journey at blogspot.com. Here, I will be sharing about my writing and reading journey for the most part. Encourage, inspire, and hear from you are what makes for a successful blog relationship in my opinion. I'm casual and informal, approachable and share from experience.
