message 1: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Kirkum The Red Hand, played by Martin Freeman (a man can certainly dream).

message 2: by Josiah (new)

Josiah Mine would be The Red Hand, played by Michael Fassbender.

message 3: by Ellis (new)

Ellis Knox My favorite character is the schoolteacher himself. I can't recommend an actor, in part because I don't know modern actors and he'd have to be youngish. I'd cast a young Harrison Ford if I could, because I think he's one of the few who could make the transition to the steely-eyed pirate.

I also love Violeta. Millie Bobby Brown (the actor who plays Eleven on Stranger Things) would be just right there.

message 4: by Poornima (new)

Poornima Vijayashanker For some reason I just love Iren—Gina Torres :)

message 5: by MundiNova (new)

MundiNova My favorite character is Tom Senlin. He's grown so much as a character!

And I'd cast Harry Lloyd (the actor who played Viserys Targaryen in season one of Game of Thrones) to play Senlin.

Gotta second Matthew's suggestion of Martin Freeman as The Red Hand. Good choice!

message 6: by Eric (new)

Eric Iren!!!! Gwendoline Christie. Omg.

message 7: by OlaBas (new)

OlaBas I'd love to see Warren Ellis from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as Ogier!

message 8: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Edith - Maya Rudolph

message 9: by Dan (new)

Dan Voleta played by Alicia Vikander!

message 10: by Zach (new)

Zach Michalowski-cline Ferdinand - the dog from John Wick.

message 11: by Dallas (new)

Dallas Ashbay Tarrou. Played by Paul Giamatti

message 12: by Mia (new)

Mia I would absolutly love Doug Jones as Byron!

message 13: by Vedant (new)

Vedant Benedict Cumberbatch would be exciting as Senlin!

message 14: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Gwendoline Christie would be a perfect Iren. I also love Vedant's post above re: Benedict Cumberbatch as Senlin!

message 15: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Edith is my favorite and I would cast Gemma Arterton.

message 16: by Sean (new)

Sean Newgent I absolutely adore Edith but reading this series I surprisingly never saw it as a live action adventure and always saw things in a Miyazaki/anime art style so I wouldn't say I have any actors in mind for the characters...I think the series has the whimsy and creativity of a well-made animated movie and would translate really well in that regard.

message 17: by RedJorgAncrath (new)

RedJorgAncrath I'd have to go with Reddleman and I see him played by Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men bad guy).

message 18: by Tayler (new)

Tayler Voleta played by Lily Collins
And
Edith played by Yvonne Strahovski

message 19: by Shannon (new)

Shannon I just stumbled on the book, very happily, and I like Adam. Aaron Paul.

message 20: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Finn Goll played by Peter Dinklage!

message 21: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Leger The Sphinx - played by a giant spoon :p
(and Edith as Emily Blunt)

message 22: by Mia (new)

Mia I always imagined Ray Stevenson as Tarrou. On further reflection, I guess Tom Hopper could play him, too.

I'm also starting to see Shawn Evans as Tom.

message 23: by Emmett (new)

Emmett Senlin played by a young John Cleese.

message 24: by Sam (new)

Sam Stephens Finn Goll played by Tom Hiddleston!

message 25: by Emile (new)

Emile Oh my, I love all the answers. For some reason, I always pictured Senlin played by a young Adrien Brody. Senlin is easily my favorite through all of his mistakes and successes and sheer dumb luck and of course, his blind devotion to his quest. The changes he goes through, he is such a great character. I can't begin to tell you how much I identify with him and his disillusionment through the series. It's terrifying and heartbreaking and fortifying all at once.

Edith is a very close second. Let me get Zoe Saldana to play Edith, please. She's got the gumption and the grit. Plus, can you imagine her with an engine arm?

message 26: by Malthe (new)

Malthe Bjerregaard That is a tough riddle. I would pick Thomas Senlin played by ... Vin Diesel! no maybe not.. he should be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. uh and the red hand by Joaquin Phoenix

message 27: by Eleanor (new)

Eleanor Hmm... Thomas is my favorite so far. Maybe Matthew MacFadyen? Particularly with spectacles: http://www.withanaccent.com/wp-conten...

message 28: by Kim (last edited Jun 14, 2019 06:11AM) (new)

Kim Although I'm growing attached to each and every character in this series, Thomas is definitely becoming my favorite! And, for some reason, when I read these books, I imagine him as Hugh Jackman.

message 29: by Leah (new)

Leah Nugent I'd like to see Martin Freeman as Senlin. He would pull off Senlin's initial personality well and I'd like to see how the actor pulled off Senlin's incredible transformation.

message 30: by Lady Jayme, (new)

Lady Jayme, How did I miss this? Oh well, it's over but I must put in my favorite! Byron is a secondary character, but he's also a sassy clockwork deer and I love him. Perhaps Jemaine Clement?
