Leila Loved the first paragraph of your blog Kev hun. So often in the past years of my life I have gazed upon bird's footprints on (or in) the snow and for whatever reason I've been touched at the sight. Some years back now I was with my family on holiday in The Dales. It was April but a sudden unseasonal heavy fall of snow about 3 to 4 feet deep fell overnight. We were due to leave for home but that proved impossible as all roads were closed.. My sister and I waded through the snow at chest height (we are small in stature) to the nearby farmhouse that evening for extra blankets et al. I still remember being entranced by the various little footprints of the birds on top of the snow lit up in the moonlight. Sadly the bird's nest full of eggs outside my bedroom window was full of snow the next morning. Some things you just never forget. Thank you for your blog reminding me of how much I loved your book.

Thank you so much, lovely Leila.
I had a wonderful vision of you and your sister up to your armpits in the deep snow! : D
Thank you for your kind words!

Kimber Silver What a delightful peek into the magnificent Christmas scene, Kevin! 🎄You've made me want to snuggle in and read your splendiferous book for the third time! 😊✨

Robin It's fun to revisit the scene with inordinately happy Fergus. Crisp and virginal snow, a blackbird's meandering footsteps--lovely, evocative description! Kevin, the book is such a joy to read!

Thank you so much, Robin!
I channelled my inner Dickens and I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good. A Merry Christmas to us all!

Cheri I had planned to re-read this story in your wonderful collection this month, but am not sure when I will be able to hold a book (or anything) for long enough to read now! Hoping for a Merry Christmas for all, as well!

There is a Christmassy story in the short story book, Cheri, but this was an excerpt from The Fish That Climbed a Tree.
I'm hoping for a Merry Christmas for all who celebrate it too! : )
