No Wish To Flee

I search but I can never find
A place for peace within my mind.
No innocence left to hide the blame
Nor doubt that can deny the shame.

Eyes are sore from lack of sleep
Whilst pain throbs in chambers deep.
Distrust is a friend to stand beside
As truth is sought but always denied.

Lives that died, declared untrue,
By those that paid and I outgrew.
So speed the day that I might see
A place for rest with no wish to flee.
