Do covers matter to you when choosing a new book to purchase?
Do covers matter to you when choosing a new book to purchase? I have major cover love for my paperback Bradens, which are different than the ebook covers (which I also love). Do you like couples, or a single smokin hot guy? Do you like something different all together? Do you even pay attention to the covers or skip straight to the blurb? Let’s chat!

I want books without nudity or risque poses on the cover. I have a 10 year old grand daughter I would rather she not see any of that. She saw a picture of a book on Amazon I was thinking about buying. It showed the usual male chest with a six pack. My grand daughter said GRANDMA! What are you doing looking at that? lol

Covers need to reflect what's inside the pages, meaning if it's a steamy book, the blurb or the cover need to reflect it so as not to mislead the reader. But there's a big difference between selling sex on the cover and selling a loving relationship.
Since I am mostly reading on my ereader, I don't have the problem Debbie described. At the same time, this is sometimes sad because there are so many great covers and you don't really get to see them often or only in black-and-white...on the other hand, I can read my favourite books anywhere without having to explain myself or people giving me weird looks.I think that I prefer couples on the book but also covers that tell me something about the content or the mood of the book.
Claire and Melissa I should have said this is what I like on pb books. I agree with you about ebooks and being able to read them anywhere. I don't have a Kindle and don't want one. I use the Kindle app on my desktop. It's not something I could carry around. lol I guess I'm old school and prefer a book in my hands. Anyway this is just my opinion.
Deal breaker for me is a giant bare pregnant belly. I have no problem with nudity or pregnant women in bikinis or the female body etc. It’s just I’ve never see a cover like that that was done well. They’re all creepy and just weird looking. I’ve seen pregnant on covers that are clothed and I’m ok with that. It’s like it’s ALL you see just in your face. I don’t know....just no. I really like couples on covers the best but I’m ok with just a guy or just a girl or no people at all.
