Mid-year thoughts

I think that my author profile will never mention this, but I like to explore numerous forms of writing, different genres, etc. My goal is to reach multiple audiences and hopefully help them find a genre that might be outside of their comfort zone. Most of all, I write different genres using different styles because I love reading and writing various genres.

You wouldn't guess it by what I have released and what I plan on publishing, but I love writing in the third person. But, I have challenged myself to write in ways that I am unfamiliar with to become a better writer.

At the beginning of the year, I wrote a light epic fantasy novel written in first person, titled 'Avania.' I very much love this story and brought these characters to life, maybe not as much as I'd like to, but it is a Y.A. epic fantasy and not a more traditional one. Additionally, first person is not my preferred writing perspective, but it has helped me to lighten up my style so that my writing is more digestible for multiple audiences.

I had a few friends read Avania and generally good feedback. But sometimes my writing fell back on it's older 'voice' and became less likely to reach a wider audience. So, I took another genre I enjoyed and lightened it up while speeding up the pace, 'Warlock: LITRPG.' I wrote it at a general audience level, removing some darker themes so that Y.A. readers 12+ could enjoy the story, and some of us that need a break from all the darkness in some stories could also enjoy it. I also pulled back some of the intricacies of the LitRPG genre. I made a very light system that would hopefully create interest in the genre for people who weren't as familiar with it, without overwhelming them with an incredibly intricate system.

Later this year, I will release a few sequels to these books as well as a one book LitRPG and a one book Romance.

I will start to add a one-sentence 'Author's note' to the book description that clarifies the genre. I'll notate when I stray from the purest form of the genre or indicate that something is a light G.A. read so that readers are not as taken unawares by the variation in my style. And for my readers that love the lighter writing style, I'll leave a note when my writing changes to a heavier style.

My ultimate dream is to write more often in 3rd person point of view and to write more intricate epic fantasy books. But, for now, I hope you enjoy the works I have created, and if they weren't your cup of tea, I hope you discover other stories that you can't put down.
