Deep Work by Cal Newport

If you find that you are not making progress on your most important projects -- such as writing your own book -- then you must read this book! I love "Deep Work" by Cal Newport.

Cal gives excellent reasons why social media is the bane of thoughtful, creative work that takes concentration and focus. If you have been feeling guilty for not being on social media enough, this book gives you permission to stop frittering away your time on trivial or shallow work, and instead prioritize your most important project and the deep work it demands to be great.

I have a rule "output before input" -- which reminds me to WRITE (output) before I read or listen (input). This book backs up my rule with hard science and Cal's own publishing success by ignoring social norms and instead focusing on 90-minute blocks of deep work every day. I hope you love it as much as I do!
